Whitianga, on the Coromandel Peninsula
"Pretty Whitianga, village port"
Whitianga is the place we chose to stay the night before going to Hot Water beach....we'd been travelling all day and were too tired to make it to Hot Water Beach (luckily, as there's not much there apart from 1 campground, a kiosk with a very limited range in food, 1 cafe and the rest just houses). The beach itself is pretty enough, there's just not a lot at Hot Water Beach.
Whitianga, on the other hand, seems to be the biggest town on the Coromandel Peninsula, apart perhaps from Coromandel township itself (which is just a normal town and didn't really interest us at all)
The non marina end of the area near the Whitianga Wharf. A little bit of sunshine after a grey arrival day the night before.
A view of the Coromandel Peninsula itself, from one of the many winding hill roads.
