Whispering Sands Motel: Best Views of Poverty Bay

My navigator had no qualms about booking us into the Whispering Sands Motel after she had a quick look at the upstairs unit selected. I endorsed the decision after carting the gear upstairs.
As one expects in New Zealand, there was a fully equipped kitchen, microwave, refrigerator, electric blankets & heater, hair drier, iron & ironing board etc. As well as that , the big screen tv had dvd/cd player attached, SKY channels (it was the night of the Aust/NZ league test). Also available : complimentary gym membership, baby cot/chair, on-site laundry, BBQ, wireless broadband internet access, courtesy car to/from public transport & a delivery/pickup service to local restaurants. How good is that?
Bed was comfortable and plumbing worked like it was intended.
The unit was large with separate lounge and balcony overlooking the Bay of Plenty - the beach only a stones throw away.

Unique Quality: We enjoyed our stay. Proprietor, Peter, was most obliging even ringing to book us into his favourite restaurant for dinner.
The view is perfect. Cost was reasonable & the card covered that. Taking it easy on the lounge, sipping a wet at the end of a hard day touring while listening to Madeleine Peroux on the cd player and taking in the magnificent view of the bay --- priceless.

Sea View: Great views on Poverty Bay

Sea View is a modern building with a lot of luxury and comfort. Ask for the room on the ground floor and you will have your own garden with access to the Waikanae Beach. From the lounge and kitchen lovely views over Poverty Bay and the beach with the Norfolk Pines.
The Bed and Breakfast is situated on walking distance of the city centre of Gisborne, or just a couple of minutes drive.

We really enjoyed our stays and did feel at home.

Unique Quality: The great views over Poverty Bay and the warmth and hospitality of the hosts.

Endeavour Lodge Motel: Budget motel

I generally stay here when visiting Gisborne because it is about the cheapest motel accom. in town.

it is a small place with about 10 motel units. The beds are comfy and always clean, the units are well maintained and I have never had any complaints here ( stay at least once a month)

The units all have a kitchenette with microwave, cutlery and cups, plates bowls etc.
A fridge, electric kettle and free milk, tea, coffee and sugar.

The location is on the main road into town and if staying on Friday or Saturday night, road traffic may be an issue if you are a bit sensitive to noise. It is more the occasional loud boy racer as opposed to heavy traffic volume.

Unique Quality: There is a pool for the guests use.
