Wagener Holiday Park: North's nicest camp ground
We stayed at a cabin where it has 2 bunk beds. Those who rent the cabin has access to its own kitchen. There are comfort rooms everywhere but if you want to take a hot shower, bring one dollar. Bring a boat too if you want fresh fish for a meal! Nice white sand beaches nearby where you can chill out.

Houhora Tavern: The Most Northern Pub in NZ
Absolute beachfront, located right on the Houhora harbour, the outdoor seating allows you to enjoy the spectacular views.
In summer the cafe is open and you can enjoy home made goodies and great coffee, or relax with a refreshing beer.
An amazing range of birds frequent the area outside the pub, regardless of the high or low tides.
They also have a camping area, again in spectacular surroundings.
This is the last pub north with the old pub having a couple of rooms if you do not mind using outside bathroom facilities due to renovations.
The old hitching rails are still there from the days when it was mainly horses that were used as transport.

Wagener Holiday Park (Houhora Heads Motorcamp Ltd): Waterfront Accommodation With Seafood at the Door
If you want to get away from it all and have waterfront accommodation at an affordable price then this is the place.
This is the number 3 holiday camp in the whole country and it is easy to see why. It retains the "old style" campground way, where you can choose a spot yourself instead of being hemmed into a little box square like you are at the big commercial camps.
Being "old style" though does not mean that it is lacking in the modern facilities A great range of facilities including a boat ramp, outdoor pizza oven, spa and a new swimming pool as well as the usual camp ground standard facilities are available.
Colin the camp manager is a friendly and welcoming person, making you feel right at home in this idyllic location.
Wi fii is available and if you need cell phone reception, Colin will tell you the best place to go and stand to get good reception :D
Many people come once and then keep coming back every year!
At low tide you can easily walk out and pick shellfish out of the harbour estuary - now you can not get fresher than that!
