Travel Tips for Paihia

stop around bay of islands

by dragontml

we made a stop and some ppl had the opportunity to go snorkelling, as I do not swim, i did not go into the water - it was cold ! and so, i opt to walk up this little hill bare footed ! we were told that it was easier to walk this way and so I gave it a go as I would normally do this at home.

Stop Off on an Island

by keeweechic

On the cruise, you will be dropped off at Otehei Bay which is one of the most beautiful bays on Urupukapuka Island. You will get about an hours leisure time here to stroll around, have some lunch and take in the beauty and tranquility.

Paihia - Bay of Islands

by dln6874

Paihia is a very small and nice town, but VERY touristy. All of the activities are expensive - ~NZ$70+ for things like kayaking, sailing, boat cruises, etc. NZ definitely is not cheap. I didn't stay here too long because of that. I'd rather spend my money in other places I think.

Btw, the PepperTree Hostel is very nice. It's large, but very clean and pretty secure. They rent out things like tennis raquets, kayaks, and bikes for free.

The Saltwater Bar has some sort of entertainment, whether it's karaoke or bar olympics, everynight. Check it out.
