Busby Manor: Timeshare

This is a timeshare right on the main street that runs through Paihia and just across the road from the beach, so called.
There's plenty of room in each unit with its own en suite, lounge/TV room, kitchen and small verandah that is beside the pool.
The staff were helpful though not always available.
Overall, it's a place I would stay again.

Riverside Lodge: Views of the river near Haruru Falls

Plenty of common areas - Open lounge area, huge dining area. Good kitchen cooking facilities. Well equipped.
Welcoming, modern, colorful rooms in very good condition with nice doona covers and plenty of light coming in windows.
Rooms also have a large open fronted wardrobe with plenty of luggage racks & storage room. Shower has stainless steel base, v. clean. Seems to be very recently opened. Very quiet as I think there were only 2 other guests there at the time (and they must have had about 15 rooms at least along the 2 long corridors, incl some backpacker rooms).
If you have your own transport to get into town, it’s ideal. Great range of brochures & information in racks in the little open sitting room off the reception desk (yet another common area).

The lodge's best feature, I think, is the huge deck area overlooking the river where it runs over the Haruru falls. There are tables & chairs, lge bbq, umbrellas & tropical Cabbage tree palms.
Price was also very attractive - we got a lot for our $60 double, including full bathroom ensuite, all in great condition, and roof mounted TV in the bedroom. Bed was also more comfortable than your average backpackers.
