Whangarei's best bed

Spent a couple of weeks here and I must say that the service and location was second to none. The proprietors really went out of their way to make my stay as easy and hassle free as possible, their advertising says that they 'go the extra mile', I can vouch for that.
I'd recommend the cooked breakfast for a great homecooked start to the Northland day. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated, the free(!) wireless internet and cable tv are definite plusses especially if like me your laptop goes everywhere you do. The kids enjoyed the trampoline, playground and swimming pool and being so close to town it was a nice 10 minute stroll for a coffee or look around the shops.

Unique Quality: The service and local knowledge of the proprietors was very helpful. As said above the internet access was great for me and if you're a business traveller no doubt it would be a benefit to have. The iron/ing board and hair dryer were also two features I wouldn't have expected at this price range. Room service from the local club is a fantastic option if you don't want to leave your room on a chilly night and the cooked breakfast available from the motel room service avoids meeting the brisk morning air too early either!

motel on a budget

This motel is within walking distance to town (approx. 15 mins). It has limited rooms features, but serves good enuff for a home away from home. It has cable/satellite tv and tea/coffee making facilities. The property itself includes laundry service and room service (limited hours). Other features include, playground, trampoline, swimming pool and barbeque facilites. It is almost directly across the road from Jubilee Park which hosts rugby games during the winter ( I think it is free for entry to the park). During the winter and early spring months it tends to rain a lot so an umbrella can come in very handy for walking into town. It costs approx. $4 for a taxi to the city centre or if you walk 5 minutes south (right outside Jubilee Park) there is a bus stop. I think its about $1 for a bus ride into town. Overall its a great place to stay location wise as its close to the city.

Unique Quality: The most outstanding thing about this motel would be its location and value for money. Most rooms have a double/queen size bed in them but for a few more dollars you can get a room with 3, 4 or 6 beds and a kitchenette. Great for those who have families, or are travelling as a group.
