More about Lake Taupo Motor Inn
Popular place, highly rated and with good reason
We (2 adults & 2 boys aged 6 &8) were fortunate enough to stay in one of Lake Taupo Motor Inn's newly built two bedroom self contained units. These units were tastefully appointed, spacious and comfortable. Our unit was decorated in contemporary colours with leather furnishings and stainless steel appliances.
We were very impressed with the high level of friendly service and advice we received from Caroline and the staff.
All facilities were clean and well presented. Our boys loved the 2 open air spas which were lovely and warm on those cool Autumn evenings. The poolside BBQs had everything we needed to fix our boys their favourite dinner.
My wife was really impressed by the reasonably priced laundry facilities ( a third the price of some other establishments) and the complimentary wireless internet.
Although not on the lake front, we found the location to be very convenient to restaurants, shopping, the supermarket and services.
We were so happy with our choice of accommodation that we booked an extra night.
This motor inn was excellent value and we would definately stay there again
best on my trip
I have just returned from 1 month touring New Zealand and should congratulate the motel businness in general in this country. They profide in the main exellent easily accesible
spacious comfortable clean bedroom/bathroom/kitchen
accomodation which puts Europe to shame. This motel
was a clear winner in similar price range. We sampled
places in the entire north island and this one stood out
for service/helpfullness cleaniness and facilities.
Close to the centre and when you have a room with spa
which is the larger room you then have a balcony with
side lake view/mountain. I approve of the soapdispensers
since it stops wasting soap and are now found in most
4 and 5 star hotels in Scandinavia who are the frontrunners
for eco friendly behaveour in hotels. There were other free
gifts in this motel.
Great overnight stop
Modern clean and tidy room, with the most fab double spa bath, i have ever seen. It did say only use until 21.30hrs, I suppose the bubbles would disturb the other residents. Of all our motel stops over a six week stay, this was the cleanest.
Best Motor Inn in Taupo
We were given good rates from the internet and with that we got the best room in the motor inn with a very large spa and great big tinted windows that looked out to the lake. Staff were very friendly ( the owner draged a brand new bbq up stairs for me to use by the pool ) as nothing was to hard when asked. Over all this motor inn was one of the high lights of our stay in NZ and should be rated No. 1 in tripadvisor. Nigel Wilcock and Sarah Cox from Australia.
Still number one
Thank you fellow Trip Advisor members for leading me to this place! This was my last stay in the land of enchantment before my flight home and it was the best. Only 3 years old, the L T Motor Inn was close to perfect and a simple word to the front desk about a minor flaw recieved immediate response and the gentleman in charge worked without cease until everything was made right. The air conditioning was cold, the location right and their number one rating in Taupo is well deserved. I would love to stay another week but all good things must I suppose, come to an end.
We chose to stay at this motel on the basis of previous reviews and we weren't disappointed. We spent a total of four nights here and our room was spacious ,clean and very well equiped with spa bath and balcony. Caroline ,the owner, was very welcoming and gave us some useful advice re local attractions and places to eat. The motel is very well situated in a quiet position and within easy walking distance to shops, restuarants and the lake front. It is easy to see why this motel has achieved such a high rating amongst guests and I have no hesitation in recommending the motel to anyone looking for reasonably priced luxury accommodation in Taupo
Outstanding value for money
We had read the reviews and were still pleasantly surprised. Friendly and helpful check-in, great room, pretty good location close to centre of town. Got good tips on dining out, location of supermarkets etc.
We stayed 2 nights in Room 16, which is upstairs at the front. The quality of the large room was beyond my expectations for what we paid. There was a spa in the main room and a useful sized kitchenette with toaster, kettle, fridge, microwave. Separate bathroom with shower. Plenty of space for 2. Fittings felt very new, or maybe just well cared for.
They are currently extending with a new wing, looks almost complete - the owner told me they are building some 2 BR units for couples travelling together.
Bed very comfortable with a choice of pillows. There was A/C but we didn't need it. Didn't use the pool either - a bit too cool.
Possible negatives - you'd have to be picky! Our balcony was shared with 3 other rooms, no dividers. Also room faced directly into the setting sun - when we arrived the sun was streaming in. On a cool day, this wasn't a negative, but possibly could be in summer - suggest use the curtains. View from the balcony was obscured by trees down the street. Seriously - these are all trivial.
A thoroughly enjoyable stay.
too short a stay!
Read so many good reviews about this motel before we visited NZ that it was one of our definite stopovers but only for 2 nights. It was as expected, friendly service, check in and helpful advice as well. Room was clean and spacious. We had a problem with a leaking toilet when we arrived but this was fixed before the day was out. Not too noisy and small kitchenette with tea, coffee and hot chocolate making facilities. 1st box of milk given complimentary on check in. Short walk into Taupo town so well situated as well. Can't say enough about this motel.
Great room at a modern motel
The motel is quite modern, the rooms are very smart and spotless. Mine had a double bed, and 2 singles in a separate room. There's a separate bathroom with a shower. There is also a kitchen area with fridge, hob, microwave & toaster. Also included is an iron & board, and even a remote control air-con unit. There is a balcony as well with table and chairs, although the view isn't great. I think some units have some sort of view over the lake.
Outside, there is parking, a pool with hot-tubs and a BBQ area.
It's a few minutes from the lake and about 10 minutes from the town centre, it's in a very quiet area.
Overall, very impressed, a great place to stay.
Quiet and a view of the lake
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel. I looked on wotif however found it was better to go through the hotels website as it connected me to a site which had a great deal on a spa room that also included breakfast.
The hotel is situated well in a quiet street in walking distance of the shops and restuarants. Our room had a view of the lake and was disappointed that the weather wasn't good enough so we could take advantage of the balcony.
The room was very clean and modern. The bed was large and comfy. The spa was a good size.
Breakfast was very nice and delivered on time to our room.
We would not hesitate to stay here again.
