Luxury Along the River
River Birches resort was the highlight of our visit to New Zealand. We came for the Tongariro Crossing and had a wonderful hike. We managed to fish for trout with Bryce who is a great local guide. River Birches was pricy (US $350) but well worth it. We plan to come back for the Rugby World Cup (WRC). River Birches was just what we wanted: Luxury, but not over the top, nice attention to detail, fabulous food. Felt like a luxury home however we had a lot of privacy.
Unique Quality: The hot tub was really nice. It is the old fasion wood type and not the a modern plastic one. Loved being so close to the river and the where the big trout are.
