Our 12 year old son stayed here recently with his school chess team. After playing at the chess tournament, they returned to the motel rooms which they had left locked, to find the doors ajar. Their bags had been rifled through and the boys' pocket money stolen.
The theft was upsetting enough. We were then appalled at the manager's lack of action about the theft. We got the impression he just expected us to go away. Initially he implied he would contact the police, but did not. He suggested it was impossible that the motel doors had been left unlocked (despite 6 witnesses to the contrary). He suggested nothing of any value should have been left in the motel room and later, that the boys may have stolen the money. He made no apology for what had happened, nor did he offer to compensate the boys' for their stolen pocket money - $65.
Other travellers are warned - your belongings are not safe at this hotel, although you leave your room locked.
