KIWI PAKA: AVOID THIS HOSTEL!
The hostel located in the village 'Kiwi Paka' was a money pit and lacked character.
Unreasonable rates, plus additional charges for towels was one thing, but the common room being locked really did it for me and the people I was traveling with.
The staff were rude, and very patronising.
AVOID STAYING AT KIWI PAKA. (THERE IS ANOTHER HOSTEL NEAR BY, WHICH HAS GREAT REVIEWS, SO IF YOU DO STAY, STAY THERE!)
Unique Quality: Nothing. Terrible accommodation.

Waitomo Caves Guest Lodge: Comfy B & B
Perched on the side of the hill, we really enjoyed our short stay here. Adorable accomodations, great hosts, and convenient to activities in town.
Unique Quality: Most rooms are in separate buildings and have their own entrance.

Waitomo Caves Holiday Park: Good holiday park
We had an RV so Holiday parks it was... This one was all right, nothing special but I do remember they had internet access and it was really close to the caves.

Woodlyn Park: Woodlyn Park
Well this was an amazing place to stay in. We stayed in the plane and it was great. Have a look at the pictures in my Travelog - its amazing.
Unique Quality: Staying in the plane was amazing - one of the best places I have stayed in while in NZ.

Abseil Inn: scary drive up or down
Lovely house situated high on a hill overlooking beautiful countryside and just out of Waitomo. Great breakfasts, lovely guest sitting room and wonderful views from the windows.... I include the one from our room.
Unique Quality: Great breakfasts, lovely guest sitting room and wonderful views from the windows.... I include the one from our room. Plus the drive up to and down from the house is pretty unique, not without reason is it called abseil inn!! That driveway is STEEP.
