Hi
I will be in Wellington for a few days.
Can someone recommend a reasonably priced hotel.
Near Cuba street would be good.
Not too expensive.
Also, can anyone recommenda a tour to Rotarua or surroundns for a couple days?
Also, any tours in or around Wellington.
I will not have a car.
Cheers
Jokem

Hey Jokem! Have a look at wellingtonnz.com for cheap accommodation and interests. I have lived in Wgtn for most of my life and it is a really easy city to walk around and heaps to do. There's an information centre around the corner from the Wellington Library which will also fill you in.
Hope this is of some help, let me know if u have any other questions that i might be able to help u with. Also enquire at Trekkers Hotel on Cuba St, a great place to stay.

I would recommend staying in a backpacker's. There are several in the city, Nomad's is near Cuba St. There are a couple near Courtenay Place as well. Go to i-site, the information center. In Wellington it's located by the public library, not too far from Cuba St./Manner's mall. Just follow signs with a blue "i" on them, or ask someone. i-site is extremely useful, and they will certainly give you some suggestions for a trip to Rotorua or anywhere else in New Zealand. They will also help you book tickets, lodging, transportation, everything. That's probably your best bet.
Travel Tips for Wellington
Courtenay Place
by fishandchips
Courtenay Place is the centre of night life in Wellington. It has quite a few drinking spots along its length including some coffee houses. If you take a walk down Courtenay place at night you'll probably come across the large number of very young people staggering beetween pubs as they find their mojo.
Weather shelter
by knerten
Wellington is notorious for its weather and in response to that the city council put up these shelters all around the CBD, particularly at busy traffic lights, so people can huddle while they wait for the green man to appear. They never wait anyway, but that's another story, see my tips on jaywalking.
Makara
by salisbury3933
It's a pleasant drive from Wellington out through the suburb of Karori to Wellington's wild west coast at Makara.
The coastline is beautiful but rugged, there are some good walks around the coastline with gun emplacements and an old Maori pa (fortress) site.
There's also a nice cafe at Makara beach as well.
A trip to Cape Palliser and the Wairarapa
by Kakapo2
If you have a spare day you should hire a car and make this trip into laid-back villages far away from the busy world, test the wines of Martinborough, and visit the end of the world – well, not the world, just the end of the road, at the isolated North Island’s southern-most point.
Do absolutely NOT take a car with limited kilometres. The trip looks much shorter on the map than it is. We had a good laugh when our odometre showed about 187 km at Cape Palliser – and hubby had thought 200 free kilometres for the whole trip would be a good idea LOL
Places we went to:
Rimutaka Hill
Featherston
Lake Wairarapa
Pirinoa
Lake Onoke
Lake Ferry (place, no lake)
Putangirua Pinnacles
Ngawi
Cape Palliser
Martinborough
Greytown
You could extend this trip to Masterton and Mt. Bruce (Wildlife Sanctuary) if you do not have to get on a certain airplane in the evening… If you want to include Castle Point you should plan two days.
Details and tips about the locations mentioned above on separate pages, to be published in the not too far future.
Free Parking
by caraboo
Free parking is available at council owned parking buildings in the city from Saturday morning until Sunday evening - you can usually park for as long as you like.
Lombard - Victoria Street
James Smiths - Wakefield Street
Marion Street Parking Builiding
They are all centrally located and very easy to use if you need to go shopping, have dinner, watch a movie, take a day trip to Picton!
Questions and Answers
Q: Welsh flag? "Does anyone know where I can get a Welsh flag from in Wellington? Preferably a big flag you can wrap around yourself! Thanks!"
A: "Can't imagine why you would be looking for one of those in Wellington this week in particular ... :)
Sorry, I have no idea, but whatever you end up wrapping around..."
