Amethyst Court Motorlodge: Well priced and pleasant accommodation

We stayed here while attending a conference. The room was clean, well laid out and had everything we needed. Very quiet too. The owners were very nice and were helpful in suggesting places to eat, how to get where we needed to go etc. We could walk to the shops and some of the eateries in the area.

Good sized rooms and comfy bed. Free internet too. Handy because we needed to access work email.

Buckley Homestay: Great views ....

We were very lucky finding this Bed and Breakfast in Wellington. Situated 10 minutes drive from downtown in the quiet neighbourhood of Melrose. Buckley Home Stay is situated on a hill and provides spectacular views of the entrance of the Wellington Harbour with the ferries to and from the South Island. Besides there is a view on the airport without having any trouble of the noise of the planes; specially during the evening a great view.

We stayed in the self-contained guest suite with a private entrance with all modern amenities.

Willy Muller, our host, speaks English and Dutch !!!

York Bay Cottage: Reasonable price places to rent

Beautiful.Good directions and instructions given by the owner.Very helpful.
You will need a car or you can get a number 83 or 81 bus from Wellington (Courtney Place or Lambton Quay) right around the harbour to the north through Petone (beautiful spot for restaurants and just browsing round...great coffee too.....try Go Bang cafe ;-) Get off the bus at York Bay and head up (yes you will have to be able to walk about half a km up and around a windy road...but believe me...its worth it) The rest of the directions should be obtained from the owner.....a very friendly guy ...Mike
When you get there its a breathtaking view.

Fantastic views over Wellington Harbour. NZ bush around ,NZ birds Tui, fantail and Morepork (small owl).
Total privacy, you can enjoy your solitute ( or maybe a romantic get away)in a lovely well equiped cottage. Relax...wood burner fire....barb b que.....even outdoor bath ...yes! overlooking Lowry Bay and York Bay.

Quality Hotel Willis Street: Quality Hotel

Stayed here for a couple of nights a while ago.

Had a very small room which was very sparsely furnished.

A bed, bedside tables was about it.
Had to keep the luggage on the floor.

The bathroom seemed to be big compared to the tiny room .

No view from our room, just looked down on a busy road.

Slept well though, road noise was non existent.

Located at the top end of Willis Street meant you had a fair walk to the restaurants / cafes in downtown Wellington.

A small dairy was just down the road for groceries if needed.

Car parking was free but the parking lot was pretty small.

Didn't use the restaurant as we had breakfast delivered th our room both mornings.

Quality Hotel Oriental Parade: Great harbour and city views...

Stayed here recently for a couple of nights.

Double room was spacious and clean but the furniture was a bit battered in places.

Small bathroom, shower over the bathtub type deal.

Complimentary toiletries, complimentary tea/coffee and an overpriced mini bar in the small room fridge.

Restaurant has a decent breakfast and we enjoyed the one meal we ate their one evening.

The view from the rooms balcony was gorgeous. We had a city/harbour view.

The rooms were very quiet with minimal road noise heard during the night.

Great location for walking to the city centre, waterfront and theaters.

Restaurants, cafes and bars are a short walk away and a 24 hour supermarket is handy as well.
