Mana Motel Wellington

Loud, uncomfortable and rude owner - dissapointing

We booked for 2 nights & were excited having seen the website & told that apart from some trains the room was quiet. This small motel is situated directly between a busy highway and a busy train track. All night the noise almost shook the walls and kept us up, we barely slept. Any tap turned on by neighboring rooms creates a loud squeal, not to mention the laundry room noise at 8.30am if you happen to have a room next to it. The bed was uncomfortable and the room average - for the price paid the bathroom facilities were quite old. While trying to explain politely to female owner that we needed to cancel the following night as we we hardly slept we were rudely spoken to, sneered at and lied to about "all hotels have a 48hr cancellation policy". She then offended us and finally accepted our cancellation. I was appalled by her lack of professionalism and it seemed she was used to people cancelling further nights. Overall I have never come across such a dissapointing motel - and we usually don't complain. We found plenty of other pleasant, comfortable and quiet motels in the lovely Wellington:) Definitely not "mana" and definately NOT recommended.

Unique Quality: Right in between a busy highway with Trucks going all night and a busy train track with trains going every half an hour. Rooms next to laundry get a wake up noise at 8.30am.
