Great Place
Is YHA is more like a hotel. Very clean rooms, restrooms and kitchens. Good travel desk. Centrally located.
Unique Quality: Beautiful harbour view from the upper floors.

Great location
This is a lovely hostel, in a central location (near Courtney Place, where most of the major bars and clubs are), and conveniently right opposite the supermarket!
It is also near tourist attractions such as Te Papa.
It is friendly, and has a large kitchen and common room.

A Great Stay in Wellington
A classic YHA hostel in a great location. It is across the street from a grocery store and mere blocks from the fabulous Te Papa Museum, as well as the theatre where LOTR III made its world debut. The staff are friendly and helpful and I would heartily recommend this hostel to other travelers.
Unique Quality: The kitchen area is decorated with flags from around the world. If you don't see your country's flag represented, provide them with the funds and they'll order it and put it up.

A haven in a central location
I was a resident of this centrally located hostel for nearly a month. You're really only supposed to stay for a week, but I was actively flat-hunting, so the folks at the hostel were very understanding.
This is a large hostel, therefore it often is host to youth groups/school groups, etc. There are two very spacious and modern kitchens, a popular TV lounge with a great selection of movies, a rather dingy small reading/game room. Don't miss the small reading area on the ?5th? floor. Lovely view of the old fire station from up there. The laundry room has a TV, too.
The dorm rooms have about 6 beds per room, but there are also private rooms available.
Clean and fun.
Unique Quality: Centrally located. New World grocery is right across the street. Te Papa museum very close. Oriental Parade beach less than 5 minute walk.
