Thermal Pools
Since 1859 the thermal springs of Hanmer Springs have been attracting visitors for their therapeutic and relaxing benefits. Located a 90 minute drive north of Christchurch, in naturally landscaped grounds, the mineral springs contain sodium chloride, bicarbonates and small amounts of boron, calcium and carbonate.
They can be beneficial in the treatment of orthopaedic conditions such as bone fractures and soft tissue injuries. The water is regularly tested, but bathers are advised not to put their heads underwater.
Facilities at the Hanmer Springs Thermal Reserve include waterslides,
freshwater heated pools,
Four private thermal suites
Private sauna and steam suites with shower, changing area and freshwater plunge pools.
