---: A Good Area for Farmstays

If you travel to Methven in summer there is no need to book accommodation in advance. This small town has an incredible lot of accommodation for the skiing season, from the high-end lodge (Terrace Downs) to plenty of backpacker accommodation and farmstays.

I have not stayed in Methven myself, as it is so close to my home.

The following website is a very good one to book accommodation directly, and have a look at the properties:

The process via the Visitor Information Centre (i-site) affords some more steps. I would at least narrow my search down by having a look at the amazingspace website. But as said, if you travel in summer you should not have any problem at all to find a room, and during the week in winter either.

It pays to have a look beforehand if you plan to stay at a farm, as those farm stays are not located on the main roads, so you would probably not discover them by just driving around.

I mention this because in the forum often people ask for farmstays, and Methven is a good area to make this experience. Get info about this at the Visitor Centre. The farms are not listed on the amazingspace website.

Here are some links to farmstays:

Awaiti Farmstay and Gardens

Green Gables (deer farm)
Alpine Views

Beech Hill Farmstay

Birchlands Farmstay

Bendale Farm
