the Road to Twizel
by pepples46
the Mackenzie Country is an enchanting place, hot summers and cold winters, for people who like skiing, best opportunities here. I don't ski, but like walking, swimming and having a relaxed time in this beautiful area. Lake Ohau is right around the corner, so is the National Park of Mt.Cook. fresh Salmon and great Campplaces, contendment, for me anyway

"Lakeland"
Twizel is located in the midst of several South Canterbury lakes and was conceived as a town through the building of many of the regions dams. A township of 5000 people is now one of approx 500 and is really only a rest stop these days.
"Plenty to do"
From rowing on lake Ruataniwha to climbing the wall inside the purpose built gym, Twizel has quite a few things to do locally. More further afield is a myriad of fishing, boating and tramping options.
