All aboard....
There are several options around Picton for the MTB enthusiast. A few tracks on the Snout are either shared or MTB only tracks. All cater for the more or less experienced rider. A better option for those wanting plenty of saddle time is the Queen Charlotte walkway which is open to MTB's for a limit part of each year - check with walk operators for annual specifics. Bike & safety gear plus food, water & repair stuff
I took a car trip up North & did the whole RORO thing with the ferry. A very easy set-up and even easier for taking off when I got to Wellington. When you go through the Tory Channel it's more like doing a Canal boat cruise on a big boat!!
