STROLL THE LONG MAIN STREET @ MOTUEKA
Motueka, and we pulled in at the Motueka Top 10 caravan park for the night. This was a big, lawned park, located about 300 metres from the main street. No complaints about staying here!
We walked to the main street and along it, it is a LOOOOONG street, one that I found interesting as there were many different Arts and Crafts for sale here, that I had not seen elsewhere. This area is known for its Galleries!
They hold markets here every Sunday from 8am - 1pm if you are here on a Sunday.
Nelson - Sunniest City in NZ
"Winter has arrived"
Nelson is supposedly the the city in NZ with the most sunshine hours - is this the truth - I don't know but certainly the weekend I was there the weather was awesome.
This is a picture taken last week during the cold snap - a bit different from the picture below!!!!!
The City is spread out over the coast and doesn't go inland very deep, but it has a lot of character and a heap of things to do- outdoors and indoors.
There is easy access of a number of tramps, the famous Abel Tasman National Park where you can walk and kayak, the Wearable Art Museum, lots and lots of artist studios and of course cafes and restaurants.
Visit www.nelsonnz.com for information on what to do and where to go in this lovely city.
This is the view of Rabbit Island looking West towards the Southern Alps, Mapua and Motueka (slightly off to the right in the photo).
Scallops abound in the shallow waters around here and the fishing is great - on a fine settled day, go up to one of the many vantage points on the hills and watch for where the fisherman gather - better still join them on the water.
Pepin Island is actually joined to the land by a couple of boulder banks seen here in the photo. This area can be found East of Nelson and is a short drive away. Also accessible by boat in which case make the most of the fishing opportunities.
