a 41/2 hour drive through from Christchurch and you see this pretty picture from the Lookout, down into the Tasman Bay and Motueka, then a mear 15min drive to Nelson. the Drive is already a memorable journey. pretty scenery from the Westcoast and its rugged Rainforest passing Mariua's Hotwaterpools, taking a dip., Coffeestop in Murchison and drive on to Wakefield along rich Farmland into a scenic open area and the Wineries.
at Mapua the Sea meets the Road and a smoked Salmon for Lunch has you ready for Nelson all the way along the Seashores.

Founders Historic Park

Founders Historic Park is the local version of memory lane opened in1986. The park is a creation of historic townscape in colonial days of the 19th century using historic replicas & original buildings and exhibits.

Founders is also a great place to take the kid - great play areas.

Founders opens daily from 10am-4:30pm (except Good Friday & Christmas Day).

Nelson

"Nelson"

We had a long drive from Franz Josef to Nelson. It took about 6 -7 hours ;-(.

I found Nelson a very strange place and I don't know why. We arrived late and tried to get some food. We found out that many restaurants actually close before 10am. We only came to Nelson because we wanted to take part in some Sea Kayaking. I had never been sea Kayaking so I was really looking forward to it. Here is a picture of the beach in Nelson.

After Nelson we made our way to Kaiikoura

If you love beads you must go to the Bead Gallery in Nelson. This shop is bascially full on little jars with 100's of different beads. You can stay in the shop and make any type of jewellery and the staff are happy to help with any problems.

We spent about 2 hours in the shop happily making stuff. As we went on a Saturday loads of locals came into the shop with there children. It was lovely watching them use there imagination.
