Travel Tips for Nelson

Take a Historical Architecture Walk

by cnango

I enjoyed just walking around the historical centre of Nelson. I have read this is one of the oldest cities (if not the oldest) in New Zealand. The architecture is really wonderful, I think I like it even better than the Art Deco City of Napier in the Hawkes Bay region of the North Island. Both of these New Zealand cities are known for having nice architecture, lots of sunshine and nearby vineyards growing grapes for some fine NZ wines.Again this is just my opinion, I am sure others would feel differently. Hmmm I wonder if there is a friendly rivalry between the Hawkes Bay and Nelson Regions?!!!

Nelson

by cnango

Nelson is a charming beach town with a lot of historical homes, shops & restuarants. It is also home to a lot of Kiwi artists. I enjoyed browsing and purchasing some works of art. Nelson also has vineyards and has the record number of sunny days in NZ. It is also very close to the entrance of the beautiful National treasure, Abel Tasman National Park. We stayed in a homestay as we were traveling as a family. But If I ever go back with my husband alone I would love to stay in one of their romantic bed & breakfasts & perhaps do a wine tour in one of the nearby vineyards!
