Cat-O-Nine Charter out of the Wakefield Quay in Nelson offers charter services for fishing, diving and sightseeing. The overnight cruise is really nice and tranquil under the stars. By day the fishing is great and the West Coast scenery beautiful. And if you have luck catching any fish it will be cleaned, filleted and packed on ice on board. The Owners/Operators Barry and Pam are very friendly, helpful, knowlegable and their advise is free along with the hot coffee and tea.
The Pelorus Bridge location was set aside for a future township, but in the early 1900s this was changed to preserve the area's natural beauty. The area is beautiful, there is a beautiful scenic reserve that is ideal to stop and take a rest from driving. There are some easy walks that lead through forest to a waterfall or up along a ridge to a peak. It's a nice walk with ferns, mosses and lichen. Along the way you may see birds if you are lucky!
The present bridge was built in the 1950s.
