Just a small but interesting library. Sometimes interesting to catch up on newspapers and magazines, or even the books. Also they often have art exhibited around the library.
Situated at the Eastern end of Buckingham Street, opposite the old Miners' Cottages.

Saturday 10:30am - 12:30pm
The Old Post & Telegraph Office
by kiwi
This old post office, although adjacent to the site of the original one, was rebuilt in 1915. It was renovated in 1988 and is now run as a postal agency by the Lakes District Museum.
The pillar postbox is Edwardian and originally from Invercargill. These old buildings are interesting to see how they are constructed, but also they have a certain 'smell' about them, that you just don't get in new buildings.

The Avenue of Trees.
by worldkiwi
Walk along the beautiful Avenue of Trees at the eastern end of town. Under the trees are quaint miners' cottages that are now listed historic places. You can actually stay in one that has been set up for tourists!
