My Bed & My Spa Bath
Stayed at Sofitel Queenstown on April 2007 for 3 night. The hotel doesn't really look like a 5 star hotel from outside. The location of the lobby is somewhat confusing and weird. The lobby again doesn't look like the normally impresive Sofitel. The staff that help us to check in was very disappointing. He was grumpy and unfriendly and unprofessional. perhaps because i was wearing t-shirt and thorn jeans. while the lady infront of me were carrying the whole lot of branded bag and luggage. I almost flipped out on the mr.grumpy when a nice lady approached me and offer a free massage (the hotel services) ...Sure, of course. It wasn't the best massage i ever had but after the full day of skiing the day before it was good. THE ROOM, the room was magnificent! Spectacular! The room is huge, the interior was so super nice. The 64cm plasma. The bed is big and so comfortable, i guess the fuzz they are going on about the 'sofitel my bed' is not just another marketing scheme. The bathroom was actually my favorite spot of the hotel. Spa bath tub with a small plasma and water resistance remote control. Every room has balcony, mine was overlooking the mountain. The balcony is small-for standing only. When i woke up in the morning, got my coffee ready, open up the curtain and staring blank to mountain ... nice. I didnt really had a chance to explore the hotel but why would i if my room offered so much fun :) . i highly recommend this hotel to anyone coming in to Queenstown, the room is super nice, don't mind the staff and more to it is the location. i have to say it is in the best location. You are in the town centre, it is easy to find your way around. Due to the terrain of queenstown i really recommend a hotel that is in the city centre. Love the Lanolin products provided. Coffee machine in the room. Unique product in the minibar, the chocolate has funny packaging ' ANti Depressant bar' etc.
