There is plenty of accommodation in Queenstown, from budget to exquisite. During high season, make sure you book in advance as it is not uncommon to have to face a “no vacancy” sign. I stayed at this Thomas's hotel in two different occasions and do not regret my decision. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I left a substancial part of my heavy load there while going for a five-day hike and they did not object at all! Also, you get to meet Thomas, the fine cat after which the hotel is named :) At last, as you step out of the hotel, the view you have is the one on this picture!
This hotel is very few steps from the sublime waterfront. Leave a Comment Theme: HotelComparison: about averageAddress: 50 Beach St, , Queenstown, South Island 9502Directions: Waterfront

Comfortable, clean, friendly and what you would expect of a middle to up market hotel. The staff are willing to help and you enjoy a very pleasant rest here, it is not in the middle of town, so away from the noise of late nite revellers. This hotel is the lower priced of the group in Queenstown, but it is very nice all the same. In my opinion, it's views are superb and well worth the extra distance form town for. A Catchabus runs regularly to town and is very convenient. I did find however that the Frontdesk staff were very hard to understand. All were nonNationals and English was not their first language. I have no problem with this, but they seemed to speak so fast, we had to keep asking them to repeat what they said.
The mezzanine lounge is amazing, plenty of comfortable seats, lovely big fire. Dining Room has one wall completely glass with the lake and mountains in view - truly amazing. Just sitting there writing postcards and letters is a very enjoyable experience. Queenstown is probably the only city in NZ that I would make this suggestion: Make sure you have reservations here. We came quite close to sleeping in the car here... We ended up staying in a cabin about 5 km's outside of town.... The room wasn't much but the view was sure nice, though...
