Up the hill
Hippo Lodge is great! I stayed in the 'long termers' unit in a dorm for $25. It got a great kitchen and tv living area and a good place to meet people.
They also have other rooms and dorms for normal short termers. The staff are helpfull too.
It has nice views over the lake and is a 5-10 min walk to town, but walking back you have to climb a very steep hill, still, it gets you fit!
