Room at Quality Resort Terraces
by DarkRay
The hotel was strongly recommended by my very well-travelled travel companion, Woon, who had already stayed at this hotel before and so I had high expectations of it when I was staying over. I must say that I was certainly not dissapointed at all! :-)
The rooms I stayed at were very roomy and had 2 really big queen size beds, instead of the usual single beds we find at the twin sharing rooms at other hotels. The room had access to its own spacious private balcony, and was very well maintained.
The hotel staff were all very friendly and knowledgeable. They offered us a lot of valuable advice in choosing a whitewater rafting trip which was suitable for us. And it was fun!
The price for the hotel below is for a single, double, or twin-sharing room.
The lake facing Quality Resort Terraces has rooms which in my opinion offers one of the best view in the region! It was a fantastic experience to be able to wake up to the magnificent view of the wonderful Lake Wakatipu.

Situated on Frankton Road along Lake Wakatipu sounds good and not good. Good because you have lake views from all studios and apartments. Not good because Frankton Road is the busy main road that leads into Queenstown and because it is quite a walk of 10 to 15 minutes to the city centre.
At the end I would always book with them again as the quality of the studio unit we had was very good, and there was not too much noise from the road.
The unit was large and well appointed, and it had a private balcony. All apartments (up to two-bedroom) come with such balconies or at ground level with a courtyard.
Once we stayed there around New Year's Eve and the hotel restaurant saved the start of our evening as we had not been able to get a table in one of our favourite restaurants. So with not much delight we booked with the hotel restaurant and had a lovely meal and just headed to the city centre later.
It is not cheap to stay at this hotel, studios are from NZ$138 - but this is in winter (good for skiers though!). So expect $175 in summer. Two-bedroom apartments cost about $300. (Rates as Feb. 2007)

Stayed for 2 nights. Staffs are very helpful, polite and friendly. Kingsgate has made my stay in Queenstown comfortable and relaxed. It'll be my "home away from home" whenever i visit Queenstown.
Great views of the remarkables and the lake from my balcony. 5-10 min walk to the town center. Bus stops every 20-30 mins in front of the hotel.
A large motel near the town centre of Queenstown. It offers balcony views of Lake Wakatipu and the Remarkables.
The rooms offers two floors! The ground floor houses the living room, washing machine room, kitchen and an outdoor balcony. On the upper floor is the bedrooms (two) with separate washrooms.
