I stayed in this motel for four nights while attending a conference in Queenstown. I arrived on a wet, stormy evening and was immediately shown to my room by a helpful, engaging young lady, who explained the motel's green principles and amenities very clearly. I was very impressed with the place. Unfortunately, my experience was completely spoiled by a single incidence of appalling customer service. On the day I checked out, at 10am, I booked a shuttle to the airport that afternoon. When I returned, I picked up my bags and waited for the shuttle outside. 15 minutes after pickup time the shuttle had not arrived and I was getting worried, so I asked for a cab to be rung. The owner was very huffy and said the shuttle was unreliable now that it had new owners, who the motel owners preferred not to patronise. She had not at any time told me of alleged problems with the shuttle, just recommended a cab instead. I walked out to find the shuttle in the car park. I ran back in to tell the lady this. She huffed again and said I had to get the taxi. I said I was late and the shuttle had loaded my bags. I got into the shuttle and the lady *ran out of the office*, accosted the driver and demanded I get out and take the cab instead. Needless to say I was gobsmacked. I did take the cab. I checked in, in time, and then found my camera was missing. I think it is fair to say I wouldn't have lost my camera had I been less flustered and distressed. Fortunately, the taxi company found my camera, but by now I had to board. I spent nearly double the price of the shuttle on the cab, and now also have to pay for my camera's return. Unfortunately, I can no longer recommend this motel. I do hope however that the owners work on their customer service skills and make their motel into the wonderful place it should be.
At the time I visited, the motel had obviously been recently refurbished. I was impressed by the commitment to green principles without sacrificing a contemporary luxurious look. The kitchenette has built-in recycling bins, in a pull-out drawer, all the lamps use long-life bulbs and in the bathroom, they use liquid soap (to avoid waste) and encourage guests to dry and reuse their towels on the heated rail. There is actually a bath, which is unusual in motel accommodation. The room was very attractive and spacious. While there isn't really a view from the room, all you have to do is step out on the balcony to look directly at the lake and the mountains. The views are really stunning. The room remained immaculately clean during my stay. Beautiful white towels, nicely folded and presented, in the bathroom, plenty of hot water, and a nice powerful shower above the bath. The motel is fairly close to town.

I stayed at The Resort Lodge on Henry street, just a 2 minute walk to town. Its a modern hostel with good facilities but the rooms are very cramped. A dorm is $25, they have 2 good kitchens, a tiny tv room, and internet room. Its not bad, but i ended up moving on to Hippo lodge.

I stay in this motel off Frankton road about 5 minutes from Queenstown. It is tudorish in design. Judging by the name, they are attempting to imbue the "olde english' designs in their hotel. To some extend, it manages to pay off. They have plenty of family at affordable prices. I paid about $90 NZD for a moderate room with 2 twin beds. There is a free tea and coffee bar in each room where you can have unlimited amounts of tea and coffee. They do have a very excellent and efficient service at attending to every request or complaint you might have.
The motel is situated along Frankton road leading into Queenstown. The motel offers a great and unblocked view of Lake Waktipu. Theme: MotelPrice: US$40-80 » Currency ConverterAddress: Frankton Road, Goldfield HeightsDirections: Along Frankton road about 5 minutes drive from Queenstown.

The hotel is fairly new (within the last 5-7 years) it is an amazing value. I stayed with a couple of friends in a 3 bedroom apartment for roughly $50USD per person/night. The apartments are huge and very nicely appointed. All of the modern conveniences you could ever want. Fully equipped kitchen, stove, refrigerator, dishwasher etc, clothes washer and dryer. The Gleeb is located a short 5-10 minute walk to the city center. Great location - beautiful views. I would stay here every visit!!!

We found this place through the Rough Guide and it was one of our best stays in NZ. The hosts were helpful and friendly and put drinks and snacks out for us each evening. Breakfasts were so big we never needed lunch. Easy walk downtown - bit more challenging up the hill again. Room was not massive but perfectly set up and a really comfortable bed.
We loved meeting other guests over drinks and the owners were really laid back but ran the place professionally. Great hospitality and it was handy being so close to town. The place was built in the 1870s so it had a lovely old style feel to it. Had booked for five nights accommodation at one of the homes managed by Vacation Villas Queenstown. We were two families. We we not greeted upon arrival. The house was left open for us. Would have been nice to have been explained on how things functioned (appliances, etc.). We attempted to have a BBQ that night for dinner. The BBQ was heavily rusted and had the remains of possibly all of it's previous uses (in short had never been cleaned). This was reported to one of the Hosts Sharn. We unpacked and progressively found the following: All the crockery and glassware had to be washed as it was filthy. Some of the glassware was chipped. Most of stoneware crockery was chipped. The dishwasher did not function correctly. The laundry was not at all functional. The clothes dryer was placed so high you had to be at least 7 foot tall to access it. No stool or chair supplied to assist with accessing the clothes dryer. The front loading washing machine not only did not wash properly but was placed incorrectly with very little access to add or remove clothing. The shower was full of mould and looked like it had not been cleaned. There were powerpoints not functioning in the living room. There were loose open electrical wires on the wall in the living room. This was all reported by telephone to the Host David. Whilst on the telephone he became defensive, abrupt and totally unprofessional. He argued with me on the phone. He did not believe that we were telling him the truth. He came out to the property to meet with us. He defended all of the problems by claiming that it was not a five star property and that it was acceptable. We had paid a deposit of $900 for two nights some six months earlier and at the time of booking the 5 nights. We told him that $450 per night was excessive for what we were given. He told us that we would not find anything better. We begged to differ. We no longer wished to deal with him or stay for the remainder of our booking (3 more nights). We decided to leave and stay elsewhere. After numerous emails to Vacation Villas Queenstown, David's compensation for all of the problems we encountered was to offer two nights free accommodation for us or our friends/family when we were next in Queenstown. I refused this offer as I don't believe we would ever want deal with him or his company again. Nor would I recommend my friends or family. I wouldn't wish dealing with him on my enemy. Extremely unprofessional, lack of understanding, would not listen, lack of genuine or any customer service. A complete waste of money, time and effort on our behalf. Contrary to what David the Host had stated, we found other accommodation in Central Queenstown for the remaining three nights in Central Queenstown whom were exceptional. I would never recommend this business to anyone else. Very unprofessional and definitely not worth the money.
Location views were reasonable, but way out of Queenstown central. Theme: OtherComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: 53 Goldview Heights QueenstownPhone: +64 3 442-7211Directions: Goldview Heights QueenstownWebsite: http://www.vacationvillas.co.nz/

Our beautiful private garden & balcony by kiwisdofly This place is for those who love food! Amazing pre-dinner appetisers & a breakfast that inclines you to either go back to bed or head out for a hike. Very professionally run by a charming couple .........I see now why they have won so many awards. Room generously sized - free Wi-Fi & computer access was much appreciated. Girlfriend loved the heated bathroom floor & 2-person bath - she said I could do the laundry........which was so easy as our room had it's own washing machine & clothes dryer This was a very relaxing stay - everything we needed was at our fingertips. We really loved the privacy of our own outdoor garden.
We're regular visitors to the outdoor playground that is Queenstown..........but in recent years we have bemoaned the fact that the city has lost some of its charm as it has become something of a victim of its own popularity. Our solution was to pick the historic quarter of Arrowtown. 15-min from the city centre, charming & peaceful. Instead of looking out over construction sites we were surrounded by mountains & golf courses - my golf unimproved however! A special bonus was the historic quarter has an art-house cinema & many restaurants within 2-minutes walk of Arrowtown House. Queenstown best restaurant 'Saffron' [it's on the Conde Nast Top 100 List!!] is just one of the great restaurants we dined at Some of the restaurants even offer courtesy transfers if the 2-minute walk home is too much after the second bottle of wine! Peaceful-charming-indulgent-romantic-convenient..........we'll be back Theme: Bed and BreakfastPrice: US$120-180 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: 10 Caernarvon StPhone: 64-3-4416008Directions: Entering the historic Arrowtown Quarter, Caernarvon St is the second cross streetWebsite: www.arrowtownhouse.com

Our self-contained motel unit in Arrowtown by AusPinay Our stay in this little family owned motel was most pleasant and satisfying. I always try to choose self-contained accommodation with two bedrooms for our family of four. I was not disappointed with the Golden View. Our rooms were comfy, with electric blankets in each of our beds - with two beds in one room and three in the other room so we had lots of spare pillows which made me awfully glad. The kitchen was well maintained with basic cooking amenities, though we didn't really have a chance to cook our meals much! Most of our meals were eaten out while exploring, a couple of brekkies were cooked here- bacon and eggs or toasted sandwiches and some snacks. As we drove from Christchurch to Queenstown on a rented 4 wheel drive, we just had difficulty parking at Queenstown!
The motel is in a very quiet part of Arrowtown, a good 15 minutes' drive from Queenstown so it was not so bad! We prefer peace and quiet and happy to be far from the chaos of the very popular Queenstown. It is family-oriented, with self contained family units - with two bedrooms, more than enough for a family of four like us as the rooms are spacious withe electric blankets and ample heating. Hot water is also in abundance. It is also serviced daily so we found our place always neat when we came back, though once, the cleaning lady knocked to apologise as she forgot to clean it just once and we didn't mind. She just took the rubbish.

Wifey Having a First Go at the Bed by Aidy_p We had two things in mind when choosing a lodging. One, It should not be too expensive bearing in mind that the hotels here can cost quite a bit. Two, we had wanted to stay as close to Lake Wakitipu as possible. We definitely do not want a lodging that was located too far inland.
spartan living, nothing great but a value for money accommodation especially in the main hotel area of Queensland. We also had our own little kitchenette that allowed us to cook our own meals. This was one true opportunity to live as a local. Though, the cooking style is still Asian.
