Hostel with Great View
A very comfortable and reasonable hostel right on the shore of Lake Wakatipu with great view of the Remarkables & the lake. They have rooms ranges from twin to multishare. Other facilities includes TV/Video room, luggage storage, ski storage area, internet service and so on... Also, lake beach & childrens playground is just @ the door step.
Stayed here twice (both visits to Queenstown) and will definitely come back. I especially like the huge kitchen & dining area with views of Lake Wakatipu. You can enjoy your meal or a cup of drink while admiring the magnificent views! And if you're lucky, you might get rooms that are facing the lake.

Quiet, Clean, Quiet.. and did I say quiet?
The Queenstown YHA is located just outside of town, but is an easy five to ten minute walk to the heart of downtown Queenstown.
The rooms are large and clean, with excellent washroom facilities. Just the usual inconveniences with hostels (some people coming back late, some people getting up really early)
My only complaint would be that the atmosphere of the hostel seems somewhat ... sterile... For a hostel in the adrenaline capital of the world, there wasn't a lot of intermingling between the guests, which I had gotten used to as a solo traveller through the rest of NZ.

Nice and Cheap
It was close enough to walk to the down town area ... nice walk too.. I recommend it to save money and use it for other activities.

Location location location
Being a single traveller doesnt really leave much options in view to accomondation options as single travellers are always charged extra which always puts an added burden esp when on a budget - thankfully, YHA provided an option to stay and meet other ppl who are equally like minded and easy going ..
Unique Quality: Large kitchen facilities, clean toilets - easy access to public transport and a great view of Lake Wanaka.
