Lake Hawea
Lake Hawea is about 35 kilometres long and the water looks more greenish while it's sister lake - Lake Wanaka - is more blueish.
It's a good site to stretch those tired legs after a pretty long drive.

Treble Cone Ski Area in Wanaka has the project to built a new gondola from the valley to the ski resort. The capacity will be 2'000 passengers per hour, up the 945m vertical rise. The 3.3km trip will take 10.5 minutes, so a significant saving on existing drive times.
The gondola will provide a scenic ride and access to the best views in Wanaka. A new year round in prospect. Construction costs is estimated at $20 million.
Treble Cone with 705m vertical drop is the largest ski area in the South Island .
This is where Lake Wanaka flows into the Clutha River.
It is a great walking / biking track and is a continuation of the Wanaka Lakeside walk and ends up in Albert Town which is around 5kms from Wanaka. The track would take about an hour.
This stretch of the Clutha is a known Trout fishing spot and is very scenic. The colour of the water will stun you!
Wanaka es un pueblo tranquilo en el que hay que disfrutar la montaña y el lago
Los paisajes son impresionantes
Wanaka is a quiet town where you have to enjoy the mountain and lake.
The scenery is breathtaking
Wanaka has to be one of the most beautiful places on this earth. Look at this ! Snowcapped mountains, a gorgeous lake with a jagged edge and countless bays to explore. A lovely little town on the edge of the lake, idyllically situated. This IS paradise for sure!!
Every two years, at Easter, Wanaka hosts the Warbirds Over Wanaka International Airshow at it's airport. This is a spectacular and very historic show, not to be missed if you are in the area at that time. See my travelogues here for more photos and information.
The scenery around Wanaka is always stunning. I love to see the mountain tops with a cap of snow.
