Lakeview Holiday Park: Great Lake views

Lakeview Holiday Park is more than a campground. It is a site for caravans, campervans as well as tents. It also has tourist flats and studio appartments with various levels of service. It is part of the Kiwi chain which my mother and I used on or NZ road trip. If you pre purchase a Kiwi Card you are entitled to 10% discount on your accommodation (up to $30) and some attractions.

We chose self contained tourist flats/cabins with our own bathroom and kitchen facilities (in deference to my mother's age) but there are more basic units available with shared kitchen/bathroom facilities.

Clean spacious flat with comfortable beds and plenty of hot water.

The view over the lake was fantastic just a shame we only saw it clear one evening.

The owners were extremely helpful.

Glacial Rock: Excellent farm BB!

Sarah and Finn Murphy (and their lovely 3 children) have built these very well furbished cottages with an idillic view of green fields with sheep and the Te Anau lake on the Horizon.

Our cottage had one double bedroom with an very comfortable bed and good taste decoration. On a cool evening the electric matrass was an added value.
The living room and kitchenette was spacious and very well kept, also with good taste, good kitchen devices and all we could need for a good breakfast, from eggs to cereals, jams, teas, coffea, bread.
The double sofa-bed was fine for both our children.
Outside, a wooden deck with a lovely swing seat, table and chairs if we wanted to have a meal outside.
There were also grill facilities next door.
Sarah was very helpful arranging tours (Milford Sound, Worm Caves, etc) and also gave us a great advice for a lovely dinner in town.

Te Anau Lakeview Holiday Park: Powered Site With A View

The Te Anau Lakeview Holiday Park is in a perfect spot. situated over-looking the lake and just a short walk to the town centre. The park is very large with plenty of powered sites and lots of chalets. There are 2 main kitchen/bathrooms areas which are quite big so there is plenty of room to move.

We would recommend the park to anyone. Our only beef was that with the bathroom & kitchen facilities. The bright lights at night attracted lots of bugs which wasnt nice when trying to have a shower. Fly screens would be a practical solution.

The view of Lake Te Anau is the biggest selling point.

Scott's Bed and Breakfast: Te Anau's best in-town

An outstanding two night stay with a wonderful couple. Most highly recommend this facility. A wonderful cook, Sandy fixed delicious full-balanced breakfasts. Upon our request she also provided an outstanding dinner of lamb and chicken with vegetables and desert. The couple consistently made recommendations which enhanced our exciting visit to Te Anau.

The huge, round living room picture window is most unusual, with spectacular views of Mt Luxmore and the Murchison Mountains range. We watched the termination dust (snow) crawl slowly down the mountain tops during our March stay. Located a short walk to beautiful Lake Te Anau. Hosts, Sandy and Phil Scott ensure guests have a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy flowers, plants and scrubs, while they give 5-star Hospitality, throughout! Their refreshing backgrounds, views and opinions provide a fine cultural experience.

Top 10 Mountain View: Best Motor Park in NZ

They are easily the best motor park in NZ (and we stayed in quite a few). In fact they are awarded 5 Qualmark stars.

What's great
- really helpful staff
- best kitchen (cleanest and well-equipped)
- lots of dining tables indoor and outdoor
- resort-like
- well-tended gardens

Voted #1 by my family.

Like most motor parks, they've got all a wide range of accomodation types - campsites, powered sites, cabins, motel rooms.

Call in advance to book. They are usually full in peak season. We showed up (in Dec 2003) without a booking and they were full. We managed to get it from the second night onwards.

The view here is not as great as the Lakeview Motor Park, but tops for facilities.

Bright and cheery place. Wonderful light.

The Croft: THe best B&B

This B&B has two apart cabins with wonderful views. You are greeted and made to feel at home straight away. The freshly made carrot cake is delicious and the chats are interesting and friendly.
