Eglinton Valley
by grets
The Eglinton Valley is north Te Anau, about 30 minutes or so away. There are wonderful views with some great flora and fauna, even on a cloudy day like today. One part of the valley is known as 'The Avenue of the Disappearing Mountain'. It's a long and narrow valley with a shingle riverbed floor housing the Eglinton River.
Visit some deer farms
by abi_maha
Coming from India we are so used to seeing deer as 'wildlife', animals that jump, frisk and frolic in the jungles here. In NZ whe we saw some very tame and 'cattle-like' deer it took us a while to get used to the idea that these were farm animals! So in Te Anau when we spotted some farms we just walked up to the owners and asked them to let us spend some time there. It was a very interesting way to spend half a day!
Milford Sound

Milforf Sound is perhaps the main reason of visiting Te Anau which is the nearest town. It takes about 2 hours to get from Te Anau to Milford Sound and this is one of the most scenic roads in New Zealand.

It is a small town, but there are the accommodations, a supermarket, a restaurant, a souvenir shop.
It become the foothold of the Fiordland activities.

Flowers At Te Anau
by 2Cities1Love
The main road into town from the Holiday Park had some beautiful gardens so Sue took some time out to take some colourful snaps. We found the bees in NZ are quite furry....maybe cause it's quite cold at times hehehehehe1
Amazing colours.
The bee is back.
