Sunset Motel: What a view!

This motel gives personal service. When booking you are asked to give a few more details and the result was a room tailor-made for a mother/daughter couple. The lay out of each room is different and we were given one with grab rails in the bathroom for Mum's comfort.

Unique Quality: Our hosts were friendly and very helpful and the view of Mt Cook from our room was incredible.

YHA New Zealand: Youth hostel

FREE Map provided by YHA is very clear and good for self drive.

Unique Quality: YHA provide free linen, fully equipped kitchen and laundry facilities, 24hours guest access, a comprehensive range of travel service, including activities, accommodation and transport bookings.
Staffs are friendly and helpful. You may pre book your YHA accommodation.

Fox Glacier Holiday Park: Economic yet comfortable

Only a couple minutes down the road from the main junction, where the Fox Hotel is, there are a couple discount and economic backpackers and holiday park style accommodations.

We showed up with no reservations and the staff was very cordial and helpful. The rooms that they offered were $78NZ for an ensuite or $52 for a double backpackers cabin.

The rooms were well kept and clean. The beds warm and comfortable.

Unique Quality: There was coin-op internet, laundry, and communal kitchen

Mt Cook View Motel: Mt Cook View Motel

We stayed 2 nights. The room was very spacious, it included a double bed, a single bed, and a couch. It could have easily slept 4+ people. There was a refrigerator, stove top, microwave, Sky TV, kitchen table, etc. The motel had free wireless internet as well. It was very clean. They had two heaters which we used to heat the room, they worked very well.

Unique Quality: Great view of Mt. Cook on a clear day. Near Lake Matheson

Rainforest Motel: Cabin Like Motel

We enjoyed our stay at the Rainforest Motel. The rooms were basic; but clean, large, and had a kitchen facility. The large sliding doors gave you the feeling that you were entering your own private cabin.

Unique Quality: Several units with kitchen facilities; small laundy room on the grounds as well.

Ivory Towers Lodge: Fox Glacier's Bakcpacker Hostel

They cater for backpackers and non backpackers. For non bakcpackers they have room with ensuite bathroom, family unit with their owned kitchen and self contained unit consist of 3 bedrooms.

We were staying in the backpackers area with shared bathroom, shared kitchen, a common room with TV and video. The bedroom is nice, basic with beds fully made up and spacious with window overlooking the road.
This is not the most comfortable hostel but in Fox there are only 2 and this is the best one.

This lodge is warm and welcoming, with open fires, quiet lounges, great music, fully equipped kitchens and wonderful balconies for those famous West coast sunsets
