The way in
when you go for the glasier hike, make sure you take a comfortable pair of shoes which is supplied. take the clean socks which these ppl offer you as when you return from the hike it would be wet and it would be good to wear back your own dry pair of socks ! it's surely a memorable experience to be going for glasier hike !
It might be the most clichéd item to suggest but the West Coast is famous for its Sand Flies and Franz Joseph even more. They love the fresh blood of Tourists so either keep your skin covered or spray on some repellent.
We were thrilled to visit this pool just at the entrance to the glacier, standstill was a word we understood after seeing this pool. It offers a perfect reflection of the glacier and all surroundings! Everyone who came here were almost afraid to breathe lest they disturb the still waters!
Noticing the little things in life can sometimes bring out abundant joy. As Jac and I were walking towards the Terminal Face, we chanced upon this little block of ice amidst the greyness of the rocks.
It was unique as it was just sitting there quietly in the sun, not really sure how it got there though.
walking up to the glacier and being so close to it is a wonderful experience. The weather was wonderful and the colours of the ice fantastic. It really lets you see that we do have to care for this earth when you see just how far the glacier has receded.
