The place was just being refurbished when I stayed, so there was some sort of paint smell yet... but everything was absolutely new! :-)
Actually, I spent most of the time walking around, but the kitchen and common areas were comfortable and practical, and always populated, specially the hot water dispenser (very practical for a quick tea or even a soup after a long day out :-)
As all the hostels I visited in New Zealand, people were kind, helpful and friendly, and was a warm place to come back and rest... and a great place to learn some exotic recipe for a delicious dish: you know, cultures start mixing on the kitchen!
And the definitive point: rain forest was just out of my window, at a mere couple of meters, making the window an amazing frame for a real 3-D picture...
Unique Quality: Actually, the first and unique impression are the colorful walls of your bedroom! Fancy and I guess a good contrast when the weather outside gets cloudy and gray :-)
See their web page for details on standard facilities and so...
Directions: It is just on the farest corner of this small (3-4 blocks) village from the road, at the glacier side.
