Smugglers Inn Resort

While my 7-month pregnant wife and her friend were in Madang for their short get-away weekend, they were taken in tow by these two guys. Having flown in from Port Moresby, it was nice to have some local transportation and to compare notes with a couple of other visitors! This outdoor cafe scene at the Smuggler's Inn Resort is typical of the relaxing tropical surroundings you will experience in Madang.

Unique Quality: The Smuggler's Inn is located about 4 km (2.5 miles) from downtown Madang and is surrounded on two sides by the sea. From their restaurant located above the seawall, guests can view the distant mountains of the coastal islands and observe locals in their fishing canoes and possibly even a dolphin or two. As with most hotels in town, diving facilities are available as are guided tours of local attractions.
