Vaiaku Lagi: Funafuti's only hotel
The only real accommodation on the island is this Taiwanese-built hotel. Not bad, with only 16 rooms, and something of a meeting place for all the strange people who happen to have 'business' on the island at the same time. The food is passable, there is CNN in the lobby and the rooms all have a sea view, plus you can take a dip in the water at any time and then just return for a shower. Rather expensive, but this is it unless you arrange a homestay.
Being on the island is a unique quality in itself!
