Travel Tips for Port-Vila

Packing...

by CandS

Take an extra bag for when you go home...you will probably buy a few things while in Vanuatu... ;) Light and casual clothing is about all you will need. Plus maybe one pair of long pants and a light jacket. Also take good walking shoes and some wet socks/surf socks if you have them. You should bring most stuff from home but you can buy things at the chemist and supermarket (at a fairly high price). Take lots of film or huge memory cards! And a tripod will come in handy too... Insect repellant with DEET in it is a must...as well as sunscreen and lots of it!

Island Wedding

"Island Wedding"

We got married at Honeymoon Beach, Port Villa on 11.11.05. It was so romantic. The whole day was perfect! The ceremony was at 1030 am
Honeymoon Beach is located just 10 minutes out of Port Villa and is still owned by the tradittional owners....it has the most spectacular white sandy beach and crystal clear water - the perfect place for a wedding! Ours was the first wedding to be held at Honeymoon Beach and the locals made it so special! We were accompanied by traditional warriors clad in mats and banana leaves and the ceremony took place next to a small hut decorated by bright tropical flowers...it was just so perfect....

"Wedding Reception"

The best seafood you have ever tasted....and it lived up to everything we had been told! We went to the Rossi on the waterfront for our Wedding Lunch and had prebooked the famous Seafood Platter. Our table had been setup outside, but as it was hotter than we had prevously thought (and windier) so we asked the friendly waiters if they could move it inside.

The spectacular views of Port Villa Harbour, wonderful service and the best seafood we had ever tasted helped make our day even more perfect....after a couple bottles of Moet we where ready to go back to the resort for a sleep!

Definately get the Seafood Platter - you wont be disappointed! But hurry - they are knocking down The Rossi for renovations!

"Just Do It!!!"

If getting married on a tropical island is your idea of a dream come true then you wont be disappointed with Vanuatu! Our experience was awesome....! It was so easy to organise (the hardest part was what to wear!) there was no stress at all.......

My wonderful husband surprised me a week prior to departure with a romantic proposal and then told me he had organised the whole wedding, right down to booking my hair and makeup for the day! Thanks to a wonderful wedding planner, all I had to organise was my dress! Even the flowers had been organised. The photos where taken by the Islands best wedding photographer and we even managed a photo in the local paper!

Honeymoon Beach was the perfect place for our romantic wedding....
