Slightly better budget accommodation
The Olympic Hotel had availabilities at the last minute which was very convenient. The air-conditioning worked well, and the location was great as it was right in town. The place was fairly clean, although we didn’t like to open the windows as for some reason a strange smell was lingering outside. The bathroom was great with a good shower (you could choose your own temperature, which by this part of our stay we had realised was a luxury in Vanuatu). The kitchenette was not fantastic, but easily better than the other places we had stayed. Good bench space, working fridge, but only one electric cooking top element and no oven. Fine to make breakfast, or pasta and sauce, but not a lot else. We had really nice views out into the harbour and the sunsets were gorgeous. We could also see the cruise ships when they were anchored, and watched them chug out as they left. The staff were very friendly, and the cleaning was done well. All in all, I would definitely recommend this place to budget travellers, although we did have a problem once or twice with the power to the building going out! The room that we stayed in is the bottom picture on the website.
