Travel Tips for Port-Vila

Lovely View!

by aami80 about Michener's Restaurant - Iririki Island Resort

This is another beautiful hotel restaurant. You get a free ferry over to the island from the centre of town, and then walk up to the restaurant and look back at town as you eat. It's very pretty, and very romantic, but you could also be anywhere. The food was lovely, and the environment was nice. My boyfriend loved it, and I thought it was nice so I suppose it gets a recommendation! The steak was great.

Port Vila, capital of Vanuatu

by Winged

Port Vila is the capital of Vanuatu and the largest town of this country. It's on the island of Efate (Vanuatu is made up of over 80 islands).

Port Vila is small for a capital but probably quite typical of Pacific island nations. The town centre is mostly a main street, with another behind it; a little further out around the town are villages and houses and a lagoon.

Port Vila is a great place to go if you're looking for a relaxing, beachy holiday. It's uncrowded, easy to get around, and not too touristy. The people speak Bislama, the local pidgin language, but most people also speak English and many speak French.

If you want to see more of Vanuatu, Port Vila is a good place to start and figure out how to get to other islands.
