changing money

by jenni23

Is it better value to change some currency at the airport before I get to Port Vila, or when I arrive there, at the bank? I am coming from Melbourne, Australia.

We got some vatu before going over to Vanuatu and lucky we did because once we got there our card wouldn't work in the ATM's... The best currency exchange deal you can get in town is most probably at 'Seven Eleven', located right in the heart of the town. You won't miss it

Travel Tips for Port-Vila

Banking

by CandS

There are a few banks in Port Vila...two ANZ banks, a Westpac Bank and the National Bank of Vanuatu. Banking hours are usually 8 am to 3 pm Monday to Friday (except the Westpac which is 8:30 am to 4 pm). There is also a bank at the airport which is open for all international arrivals.

There are 3 ATM machines in town too...two for the ANZ and one for the Westpac. But just beware, you can't take money out of a savings account using a credit card, even if the accounts are linked...

Vanuatu Island

"Port Vila Island City"

Looks like an old City, more close to african city than New Caledonie. The most interesting place in this city with about 30.000 people, is the market place. The market place with most of food composed by fruits is the heart of the City.

"A vanuatu kid upset"

I couldn't resist to not share this nice picture with you, it's like Vanuatu flag.

"Iririki Island"

Nobody can forget the little Iririki island from Vanuatu, with all resorts ready for tourists to visit its. This picture shows the resort hotels in the Iririki Island.
