Great accommodation in Port Vila
If you are looking for nice and peaceful accommodation in Vila with good value for money, check Whispering Coral. It offers B & B accommodation only a short walk from the city center. Me and my wife spent a memorable week there in March 2001 and I am not absolutely sure if Whispering Coral is still around. Anyway, you can still find it in the latest Lonely Planet guide. The room rata was about the average but the standard was much higher than with others in the same price category. The place is run by a Korean guy who is the friendliest and most helpful person. Breakfast is served on verandah overlooking the lagoon while some light classical music was played on the stereos. And the house itself is a fine old wooden building that the owner has renovated. So, if you want peace and quietness and do not care about the luxury hotels, this is the definitive place according to my memory.

Iririki Island Resort: First Class Accommodation
Iririki Resort is situated on it's own 69 acre island literally 3 minutes from the centre of Port Vila. A ferry operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week to ferry guests to and from the main land. I would say that Iririki is the most centrally located resort, but at the same time is secluded because you have a short boat ride to get to it! The resort has 70 bungalows and it is an adults only resort. No children under the age of 12 are permitted on the island which makes it the perfect 'romantic getaway!'
Iririki has everything you could need while staying at a resort. If you didn't want to , you wouldn't have to leave the island......and towards the end I think we spent 3 days on the island without leaving!
There is a pool overlooking the harbour which is situated right next to the bar, Bali Hai where you can also order your lunch from. The resort also has it's own health spa where you can treat yourself to a bit of pampering. Named Spa Frangipani, it is the only spa in Port Vila......and the massages are great! From the moment you arrive at the resort with welcome drinks and smiles from all the staff, and the beautiful views you won't want to leave.

Whitesands Resort: Spacious bungalows
This is inside the bungalow...they are very spacious and all were 2 bedrooms. The resort is about 25 minutes from Vila and they run a shuttle van 3 times a day but nothing at night so you have to find your own transport back if you go into the township after 5pm. There's a nice restaurant onsite and also a golf course for the energetic!!!!!!!!!!

Whitesands Country Club Resort: A quiet retreat
These bungalows are a 25 minute drive from Port Vila and are very spacious with 2 bedrooms and a separate lounge. There are only 11 dotted amongst the coconut trees. A great place if you are with a group or just want a really quiet place to relax in otherwise not much happening and the beach was not that nice...a lot of coral and a lot of rain so we didn't really get to do the beachy thing. Breakfast is included in the price and they have a really nice dinner menu.
...a bit far out of the way if you want to go dining at night. The shuttle bus does the last trip at 5pm After that you have to get a taxi which is expensive cos of the distance from town.. There's still a very nice golf course there.

Le Meridien Resort: Traditional style resort with all the luxuries
People are going to be calling me biased any second, but i love this hotel. Its not the cheapest, but quite frankly if you are going overseas, you might as well splurge and truely enjoy it. However, the hotel is within reasonable pricing range.
The free activities that the hotel provides its guests, and the outstanding deals that it has, makes this hotel well worth the money. It is traditional and very cultural, but has the luxuries that you'd want on a holiday. 2 pools, a private beach, a 9 hole golf course, a restaurant with theme nights, a bar, the country's best casino (i didnt make it up!!!) and the world's most friendly people you can find. The staff go well out of their way to help. ask me more about that if you want to know just how far!
The people, the people, the people! I'll keep saying till the day I die! Plus theres the beautiful views, your own private beach and all that other stuff i already mentioned.

There is no visitor...
There is no visitor accommodation in South Pentecost so one must either fly in on a day trip or, rarely, there is an opportunity to stay overnight on a charter boat in a secluded bay.

Nagar Bungalows: Nagar Bungalows
About A$80 for a two bedroom bungalow.
Set on the water front a row of about 10 or 12 bungalows about 10 meteres from the water. The beach wasn't great and the bungalows a bit run down but it's definitley very quite and friendly. For the two nights we stayed there we only saw one other family of tourists. They offer boat rides out the closer islands for swimming or scuba diving.

Hideaway Island: Hideaway Island
They have bungalows (a bit expensive), but they also have dormitory beds for about A$28 per night.
Hideaway was a really laid back place, they've got a bar/restaurant on the beach and watersports. They don't have pool but that's made for because the island is surrounded by coral reef, perfect for snorkelling off the beach.

The Melanesian was where we stayed, and for its price, was pretty good. We toured various resorts and found them to be generally excellent, but you pay the mana for it.
Centrally located and nice staff.

Pacific Lagoon Apartments: Right on the water
The complex is located 4.5 kilometers from the heart of Port Vila, on the waters edge, at the mouth of picturesque Erakor Lagoon. Surrounded by a mature garden in a peaceful and quiet setting a little out of town, it is only a 5 minute ride by bus or taxi to the main shopping centre and supermarkets. Just walk to the end of the drive way and wait a few seconds and some one will pick you up, it may be a ute, truck mini bus or small car, it dosen't matter which one you take, all thought if its a taxi ask for the price first.
The International 'Le Lagon' ParkRoyal, is a convenient 300 metres walk along the beach. This resort offers bars and restaurants. We found this place to be very frindly and dont mind you having a swim in there pool or useing there resturant or bar.
Erakor Island Resort is 5 minutes away by free ferry across the lagoon. This resort also has bar and restaurant facilities. Nice place to go for a meal and a swim.
Erakor Lagoon is a great place for swimming and snorkelling.
The apartments are modern and fully self-contained with two separate bedrooms, bathroom, separate toilet, loungeroom/dining room/kitchen, & outside verandah. Comfortably appointed, they include items such as full gas stove, microwave, refrigerator with freezer, clock radio, television, crockery, cutlery, kitchen utensils, linen and ceiling fans in every room. All you need to get some food from the supermarket up the road and use the BBQ to cook your steaks.
There is a fully equipped laundry with token-operated automatic washing machines and dryer. A service wash is also available. Housemaids service all apartments Monday to Saturday. Babysitting services can also be arranged.
International Telephone and facsimile services are available at the Office during office hours, and there is a 'local calls only' telephone available to guests outside of office hours.
Location is right on the lagoon, any closer and you would be in the water, well priced per unit, its not a resort its more like renting a two bedroom furnished flat, but the location more then makes up for it not being a resort.

The building lookded not so good and you are quite far from city center (15 minutes walk if I remember well). But if you're on a tight budget...that's life
