Ship Yards
by grandmaR
From the deck of our ship, we see boats and places that appear to be boatyards. We knew that Nelson's Dockyard had marinas, and that yachts were anchored in English Harbor, but somehow we didn't really expect that the waterfront of St. John's would also have facilities for boats. These look like working boats and a work boat yard - not the fancy yachts or tourist facilities
Lush island

"The Variety of Local flavor"
We came into town on a crusie ship. It docked right at the town center on the water. We did not overshoot, thank goodness. The town felt somewhat dirty and many locals were hanging around trying to sell souvenirs or just were looking. It felt a bit unsafe to walk around much. On the other hand, at the other end of the island, Nelson's Dock Landing is steeped with history and well preserved and the views are great.
