One more Caribbean island...
"Is it worth discovering?"
Getting to St. John's is easy, the place is well-connected. Much of a muchness, most Caribbean islands are similar and this is no exception. A former British colony, the centre of town is hardly inspiring. The island itself is pretty enough and you can use a minibus to go around for cheap. Unless you like spending the day on the beach, make your stay on this island short. I would just go to Nelson's harbour and have a look around there...
"What to do in St. John's and Antigua"
The place didn't really impress me. The locals are indifferent or plain rude I am afraid. Here is a pic of the entrance to the church of St. John; the town is named after him.
"Not the usual 'yours truly' section."
I have no photos of myself in this place at all. I took a minibus and went to the other side of the island, where the pretty cove of Nelson's harbour is perhaps the nicest thing to do. Apart from being a marina for yachters, this place sports some nice colonial buildings, done up well. You will have to pay to enter the complex, but it's worth it, somehow an escape from the chaos outside, and the minibus is quite frequent if I remember well. Beware though, shopping here is expensive. I remember I ran out of film and they charged me $12 for a new one...
