This is a small, luxurious hotel located in the parish of St Pauls at the far Southern end of Antigua. Transfer time by car from the airport is 40 minutes.
The hotel has only 30 rooms and is set on top of a hill next to English harbour, by the bay. The main reception, bar and restaurant are located at the top of the hill overlooking the bay, while the rooms are on beach level. Breakfast and lunch are taken in the beach side restaurant at the, open to the sea breezes. Dinner is served in the terrace restaurant overlooking the bay. You could eat inside, or out on the terrace. Getting around the hotel property is not a problem - the hotel has a car service which will collect you from your room and deliver you to the reception or restaurant for dinner and back at 5 minutes notice.
Our room was a Junior suite. These rooms are in blocks of 4, 2 ground floor and 2 above and are built in the traditional wooden style with shutters on all open sides and a patio or verandah facing the gardens, pool and the sea. I loved the room here. It was big enough but not too big and had absolutely everything I could ask for - big comfy bed, plenty of light, shutter doors opening out on 2 sides, great view, big bathroom with 2 basins and separate toilet and shower and masses of wardrobe and storage space. There are also beachfront Cabanas which are smaller and less expensive.
The Inn has everything that a really great hotel should have yet with the intimacy of a small place and was just perfect.
The hotel has sunbeds on the beach and by the pool, with complimentray towels and water, which are kept in a small serving area at the back by the pool. You can also order drinks on the beach - we had pre-lunch and mid afternoon Pina Coladas brought to our sunbeds.
The service is efficient without being over the top, relaxed but there when you want it and the staff are very friendly and helpful. I particularly liked the ladies who serviced the rooms who were always smiling and ready for a chat.
There are quite a few places to see around the hotel. You can walk to Shirley Heights or take the boat shuttle to English Harbour - complimentary for guests.
Non-motorised watersports are free of charge for guests so you can get snorkels to swim around the bay or kayaks. There is also a free gym and tennis which I didn't try and massage facilities. There are boats moored in the bay but not so close that they get in the way of swimming across it.
