Bucuti Beach Resort: Over expectations!
  • Satisfaction:
  • By Jack_Napier on June 13, 2004
  • I used to stay at Bucuti 29.May 2004 to 8.June 2004 with my friend and we enjoyd the stay very much.
The hotel now opened its new "Tara Wing" with the Tara Beach Suites and Penthouses as well as a spa. During the opening ceremony it was possible to have a look in the new rooms, all with a phantastic ocean view.
The other building with nice standard rooms is now about 10-14 years old and will be renovated and refurbished with some kind of the same colonial design as it is in the new building.
With a newer room or refurbished, my satisfaction level qould have been "A Great Experience".
Next time we'll stay in a Tara Beach Suite!

BEACH!!! Eagle Beach is one of the most beautiful beaches I've ever been!
The resort is a perfect place for all travelers who are looking for a place to relax. The beach was not crowded at all and the hotel is very quiet.
We also liked the familiar atmosphere and the very helpful and friendly staff!

  • We had a one bedroom apartment. It was clean and had a great view of the ocean. The beach was wonderful, Matthew's restaurant was great for Breakfast, Lunch AND Dinner... excellent cuisine. We could have arrived and never left the facility... it was that wonderful....

Views, romance, pool, DINING was exceptional... they had gym facilities, and were walking distance to anything you might want.

  • Amazing place! The people were so friendly and helpful. The grounds beautiful. Our room overlooked the pool on one side and the golf course on the other. we had 3 private balconies, and a private jacuzzi on the upper roof! What more can you ask for. By the way, the rooms were immaculate! Full kitchen, 2 large bathrooms, king size suite, with full dining room and living room. Not that we needed this, but the thought was nice!

  • We did not like this resort too much. The food was bad, the hotel needed work and the pool had too many kids. We went when Natalie Holloway went missing and there was tv camera lights directly across from our room. The people seemed to be a little more uptight due to the situation. On the beach people came up to us offering us drugs. Toward the end of our vacation a group of teenagers came and were loud and distracting.

On the plus side, the casino was a lot of fun. When we went the previos year, we spent a lot of time here at the Exclesior. They have poker tournaments and the staff is really nice.

Holiday Inn SunSpree Resort Aruba: All-Inclusive -good price

  • Check in and check out was smooth, fast and easy.

    All-Inclusive:

They give you wrist bands but you still have to put your room number and sign a check for every food or drink order.

Buffet: Needs a little updating, and entrance and exit door would be a nice addition. Clean & bright. Staff was friendly.
Breakfast: you can ask your waiter/waitress to have eggs made to order rather than from the buffet.
Lunch: Only went once and had a salad.
Dinner: Italian Night was good, made to order pasta bar, lots of other items to choose from. Was told by others in out group the Seafood night and prime rib night was also good.
Lunch pool/ocean side: Fried beer battered Grouper or Grilled Turkey Ribs, Wings, Nachos, Burgers, Pizzas, Hotdog
    Room service not included-cost extra
    casino right in hotel

Huts on the beach: You must get in line EARLY to reserve a HUT for the day. (line is at the beach towel hut)

Beach area is narrow, but nice to be close to the water and bar area.

    more info/photos to come......

  • Prior to going we had heard both good and bad about the Holiday Inn. We found it to be fine. Nothing fancy but it was clean and staff was friendly. Its not the Hyatt or Mariott but you're also not paying as much. We did the all inclusive plan. Im still not sure if that was the cheapest way to go. We really dont drink so we probably broke even.
The resort had an exercise room that my daughter used daily.
They only let you sign out 1 beach towel and if you wanted a float you had to pay to use it for the day. I think it was $3 a day. Honestly, the float should have been free.
Like most of the resorts in the area, people went out at 6am to save a shade hut. We didnt save one but really didnt need it as we like the sun and there was always a nice breeze.
There really isnt much at the resort as far as entertainment. They did have some activities during the day for adults and children. Twice a week they showed a movie under the stars.

there are 3 main resturants to eat at. One was the buffet for all three meals. The food was ok but usually not hot. There was also The Seabreeze, an outdoor resturant with a menu. I liked this resturant. The third resturant required reservations. To make the reservation you had to stand on line about 3pm on the day you plannned to eat there. They started taking reservatons about 3:30pm. The service here was slow. Since my daughter doesnt eat most that is on the menu we only ate here once.

The pool was small. They had 2 sections: one side for kids, one side for adults. Of course there are always kids who end up in the adult pool and hot tubs.

The beach was nice. I really think our beach was nicer than some of the other beaches. No water sports. If you walked about 10 mins towards the Mariott the Fishermans Hut is there and you can rent wind surfers, kite surfers etc as well as take lessons. There are also stands all along the beach for jet skis, banana rides and other motorized sports.

I dont recall the price. The resort has both inclusive and non inclusive packages.

We had a great ocean view from our room. I think we got a better view as we are Holiday Inn priority members.

Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort: Good value, great beach

  • Other websites' reviews of this Hotel are not kind. This Hotel by no means is in the top catagory of Hotels in Aruba. If you need a fabulous room with Marble bath, staff falling all over you to provide service, great food or drink, top entertainment, then don't stay at the Holiday Inn Sunspree Resort. It is, remember, a Holiday Inn.

In fact, the rooms are clean, comfortable and newly remodeled. Ours had a refrigerator, good air conditioning, comfortable bed. The shower had cold and room-temp temperatures (no hot). We also had an outdoor porch which you could see the water and most of Aruba in the distance (we were on the 7th floor). TV, if your so inclined, has most of what you would get on American cable, including a few HBO options.

The Casino is average for Aruba, and currently is only one of two with poker tables. The sports book is mostly closed, and rather a dull area.

They have some stores, and an internet access room, where you can check e-mail, surf for $.30/min.

The Hotel is right on the best beach, which is different than the "posh" properties around, most which have hundreds of yards of pools, restaurants and other obtructions between the beach and your room. This is the best feature of this hotel.

The staff is friendly, helpful, but can be slow and ineffective in problem resolution. You need patience.

The food is mediocre, but very edible. I suggest that you do not get the all-inclusive, because there are a lot of great restuarants in Aruba.

My wife and I have stayed at this hotel every two years since 2000. Since that time, they have been in constant construction (improvements), and this year (Jan 2006) has been no different. The improvements are now starting to show, however, and in my book has moved this Hotel up up star or two.

    Good beach
