Costa Linda Resort: The best resort on the best beach in Aruba
This resort is my favorite. The service is good, but it's the facility and its beach that brings me back. The units are all 2 or 3 bedroom, very spacious and with 2 bathrooms. Large balcony overlooking the Caribbean, and a nice kitchen. We would absolutely recommend this resort to anyone looking at Aruba as an option. Great for large groups or families!
Unique Quality: The large free-form pool is very nicely landscaped. They have live music poolside in the afternoons, and a pool bar and restaurant right on the beach. The view is perfect, and just steps from the Caribbean. The resort is on Eagle Beach, Aruba's finest. Lots of palapas, plenty of chairs on the beach and by the pool.

?: Pink Hotel
I am beginning to wonder if this hotel was remodled, or even exists any more! I was there 14 years ago, so it might have been replaced, I can't find anything on it.
When we visited it was a lovely beachside resort with all the amenities.
I'll keep looking!

Amsterdam Manor - Mangos Bar: The Legendary Filo!
We had read about the legendary Filo online before our trip. He certainly lived up to his reputation of the friendliest barman around. (and yes, his jokes are awful !)
He mixes some fabulous drinks, especially good were his vodka martini's.
He gets everyone talking and is always happy and smiling.
Sister no 1 and I, were always late to arrive at Filo's bar (typical Venezuelanos !) and he always hung on just that extra bit, to serve us a drink before he locked up (they shut pretty early there). He would serve us when we wanted, leaving us to sit at our leisure when he had wandered off home to bed; always with the words 'I'll be back' !
Cheers Filo :-)
Unique Quality: Filos drinks are better than most. He does not make any ready mix cocktails, preferring to mix his own to your taste and always with a cheeky smile :-)
Warning : Ladies, do not let your husbands 'pop in for a quick beer' at Filo's bar at 4pm in the afternoon, I shall say no more !

La Cabana: Average Hotel
It's ok, we go every year. Friends of my family own a timeshare at this hotel, so it's free for us. But I wouldn't recommend it. I know of other hotels that are much more beautiful and worth the money that are same price as this hotel. I should say that this hotel is so family friendly or kid friendly.

Amsterdam Manor: Live and Direct from The Amsterdam Manor, Aruba
Well, we've been here 4 days now. The hotel is clean, on the very beautiful Eagle beach & you can admire pelicans diving while lazing on a sunbed sipping a cocktail. The beach is couple of mins at most from the furthest rooms (across a small rd but no problem). Staff definitely seem more naturally friendly than some other resorts along the coast. A more eclectic mix of guests who were up for a chat at at Filos bar in the evening.
Restaurants in Aruba are pretty pricey & average (reminds me of USA food, OK if you want to eat steak or weirdly cooked shrimp for you entire stay) but Mangos restaurant was reasonable in comparison. KB ate a good steak & the 'catch of the day' was fresh.
Reception were friendly. They ordered cabs for us to restaurants & airport and were efficient & helpful.
Breakfast to the room - Don't go there, it is only a short stroll to the restaurant. Room service breakfast is a total waste of money & Sund. morning was terrible. It served us right for being too lazy to walk a few yards to Mangos.
First general impressions of hotel :
Generally very clean, but room not made up for 4 people (they knew we had 4 in our party) had to order extra sheets .
Eco friendly.
Excellent position for a quiet time & out of the high rise (High Rise, don't go there!)
Beach very good, uncrowded etc plenty of sunbeds (without matresses) beach bar & just a few boat trips. There is also a fresh water water cooler (free) so no need to carry any.
Cocktails at beach bar are weak and ready mix a la USA, you'd have to drink at least 3 to notice them. Suggest ordering your usual mix there.
Water in rooms was bad but drinking water in Aruba is the best in the world & is provided at the bars etc.
Internet access to two computers - free.
This is a very relaxed hotel & much nicer than others we looked at in the High Rise area.
All in all, we think we made the right choice.
Unique Quality: Small pool (but who needs a pool when you have a beach like that on your doorstep).
Friendly and helpful staff.
(A special mention to the lovely Venezuelan restaurant manager).
The hotel is much more European than most.
Don't stay there if you're looking for Bingo, Dunkin' Doughnuts and Cheesy entertainment.
Do stay there if you want a chilled out vibe right by a beautiful beach.
Tip ; Get up early, take a stroll and watch the birds at dawn when it's not too hot. Little yellow birds nest in the trees at the Amsterdam Manor & Pelicans dive on the shore - Lovely.

Amsterdam Manor Beach Resort: More European style Hotel
We will be staying at the Amsterdam Manor Hotel on Eagle beach this coming Easter. (See website link below)
The hotel pitches itself as "A small hideaway with all the luxuries of a large resort, located on a premier beach, Eagle Beach. Warm, friendly personalized service, fine facilities and amenities create an unforgettable vacation".
The hotel was designed by a famous Dutch Architect named Jan Hubert. Several of his designs can still be viewed around the island.
We have booked a one-bed suite, for myself, BB, the Small Person and the Sister. (2 Beds in bedroom, and a double sofa bed in lounge). The rooms come with kitchenette and dining table.
In high season (Dec-end March) - this hotel is not that cheap, but looks perfectly located for our needs. (Clean, not too 'full on' in the way of cheesy entertainment and on Eagle beach).
I will let you know our experiences as soon as we're back!
Unique Quality: Smaller, more European Hotel.

Playa Linda Resort: Beautiful Spot On the Beach
I stayed at the Playa Linda Resort for a week in March 2004. The one-bedroom suite was small but nice. It had not been redone lately, but it was very clean and neat. The furniture was nice also. The kitchenette and bathroom were the only areas that showed some wear and need of updating, but again, it was clean and adequate.
The restaurants were nice, food was good to very good.
The beach area was narrow, but there were lots of chick-a-dees and tall palm trees to keep the sun off of pale bods!
I would recommend this resort....great staff, clean, good restaurants and fun activities!
Unique Quality: The pool was gorgeous, with lots of fun activities going on all day. You could participate in water aerobics, a sing-along, cards, massages, bingo and many other activities while sipping your favorite mixed drink :)
The pool area was large, with plenty of room to spread out. Many chairs and loungers to please the lazy sleepy-heads.

Divi Aruba Tamarjan Resort: Nice for the Price
My husband and I stayed at the Tamarjan from September 2 - 9, 2001. We absolutely loved the resort. Since we were there, I believe they have done some remodeling. But this place was perfect for us. We wanted a relaxing, low-key vacation and that is exactly what we got. The food was okay. I was a vegetarian then and got pretty bored with the food. The Italian restaurant was my favorite. The pizza bar was great for a late night snack after you have had a few too many drinks. The staff was incredible, the beach amazing. We didn't usually go swimming in the hotel pool. There was another pool behind the resort that belong to the Divi timeshares that we used. I prefered to get a raft and float in the ocean. I highly recommend the Tam to anyone who wants a quiet and relaxing no fuse vacation.
Unique Quality: The staff truly made this resort what it is. They were amazing!

La cabana and nearby: Eagle Beach area
La Cabana is a 5 star with all of the perks.
Across the road there is a little apartment complex (behind the mini golf and down the road about 2 minutes walk) where you can rent a 1 BR apartment for 800-1000 USD / month. We stayed there 1 month and used the La Cabana facilities (friends had a room there for 1 week of our 1 month).
Eagle beach is great, but there are better. It is a good "jumping off point".
Unique Quality: Up north you can swim out to several great snorkeling spots. Bring bread, or better yet, Cheez Wizz cans (easier to manipulate a few meters under water).
Also, baby beach is quite good for fish watching & snorkeling. They rent kit for day trippers from the cruise ships at the hot dog stand.
Check out the refinery in the distance from baby beach -- kept US in oil during WW2.

The Renaissance Ocean Suites & Casino: The Best Aruban Spot
We stayed at the old Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino, for now renewed (and changed its name). It is same property with Aruba Sonesta Suites, however Renaissance Marina Hotel Tower is favourite with its Martini Bar Blue and dazzling pool area overlooking the ocean. Experience the island's most exciting shopping, dining, casinos, shows, and nightlife-without ever leaving the resort!
And because Night is the Hottest Time of Day, the Renaissance Aruba offers an array of exciting dining and nightlife. Included the island's only 24-hour casino (Crystal Casino) and the Seaport Casino which is the only waterfront casino on the island.
Facilities: Barber / Beauty Salon, Health Club / SPA, Boutique Shops, Shopping Mall Nearby (on property), Golf Course, 1 Tenniscourt, Fishing - Scuba - Paddle Boats - Sunfish Sailing - Wind Surfing - Snorkeling - Waterski
Great Info
Unique Quality: Yep, 3 pools ... Guests can enjoy 3 outdoor swimming pools in idyllic surroundings amidst lushly landscaped tropical gardens, overlooking the Caribbean Sea.
And also 3 beaches! Experience the Beach Tower, and the Sonesta Island with some spectacular private beaches surrounded by mangroves and tropical wildlife. You may be transported to Sonesta Island via a short 13 minute boat ride.
Because of property area the beach got special beaconed ocean nets,... no sharks can approach you, it is said. Well, we had a terrific time and enjoyed the special attention of the hotel-people. As well the hotel-management as the service... as the crowd watching every day. Fashion photography is not that common and new fashion-clothes aren't that every day... are they?
