A Perfect Place to Relax

My new husband and I went to Aruba for our Honeymoom. We loved it! We had a blast. We stayed for 8 days and wished that we could have stayed for 10 more. The food was excellent and the service was great. I do recommend tipping at times because then the staff pays a little more attention to you. The breakfast and lunch buffet was great with food for everybody. We made reservations at the Red Parrot and the Italian Resturant at the Tam. almost everynight because they were excellent. The all inclusive package is the way to go. It is nice to know that you will not be shelling out tons of money for drinks and food. I do recommend going off the resort one night to eat. My husband and I went to El Gaucho where we had the best steak ever! It is worth the extra money. The rooms were clean and we had what seemed like an oceanfront room but they called it an ocean view room. It felt like you could walk off of the balcony onto the beach. The water was clear and we only swam in the ocean. The only downfall is that there are little huts on the beach and people will wake up at 7AM and put a towel down and walk away and might not even come onto the beach until noon. After a few days of watching this, we decided to just move the towels. The hotel was always eager to please and the staff was great to help plan events on the island. My husband and I are ready to go back next year for our first anniversary and we would definitly stay at the Divi Aruba Resort. I recommend this place to anybody looking to forget about work and spend some time enjoying life!!

Divi All Inclusive

by karenli82 about Divi All Inclusive

The resort is exactly what I wanted. They are all 1 floor and beach is nearby. Everyone is very friendly in the resort.. well at least 90% of them are. I would not stay here again just because i would like to try a Non-All Inclusive hotel next time. I recommend staying at this hotel for 3 nights only and no more then that. That is because to make your money worth, try all 3 restaurants there that needs reservation.. their lunch/dinner buffet is not good.. their breakfast buffet is the same everyday.. didn't enjoy that. every hotel room is near a pool and next to the beach. the room i stayed at was right next to the pool and 30 seconds walk to the beach.

great sun- resort was OK..

My wife and I have traveled throughout the Caribbean and Mexico, as well as Bermuda and the Dom. Republic. when I read reviews I sometime forget that everyone has a level of expertations that differ. One person might like the food and another may find that the food was not that good. It all depends upon what you enjoy. With that in mind i do not want to come off as sounding like a snob when i reveiw the Divi.
Many of my friends and many of the reviews here rave about the Divi. We have stayed at very expensive resorts and we ahve stayed at some budget resorts. i found the Divi OK at best. Certainly we could do worse but i do not think it gathered the rave reviews i have seen here. The grounds are nice and clean and the beach is very good. The Divi is right on the water so you literaly walk out your room and onto the ocean in minutes.
I certainly can see why people, especially those who do not travel much, like Aruba. The employment rate is over 95% so everyone works and you do not feel like you are talking your life in your hands if you venture off the resort. They drive on the right side of the road so if you rent a car it is not a big ajustment. They accept US dollars everywhere so you do not even have to exchange money. the weather is always hot and dry and the wind always blows.

At the Divi we found the food to be Ok at best. The breakfast was your standard run of the mill breakfast buffet. They have an omlet station, some panckakes adn waffels, fresh fruit etc. The jiuce is out of a machine so it's pretty bad. The breakfast is about waht you would get at a Sunday buffet at the local hotel. Not too bad. Lunch and Dinner buffet is worse. They have the same meals on the server and they were fairly poor. they do have some "specials" that take place where the omlets are made during breakfast that are somehwat better. Also in the main dinning room the do not seperate smokers from non smokers. They also do not make you wear a shirt so sitting next to you may well be a hairy 65 year old man. It would be nice if they made everyone cover up, at least for dinner. The other resteraunts were Ok. Making reservations was a pain, especaillly when they tell you they are filled and you walk by that night and see the place half empty. They love to over cook their meat so every steak I ordered was over done. I think they anticipate that you will drink so much during your stay that you will not notice that the food is really not that good. we got so sick of the dinner buffet we actually ate off site the last two nights. Several others did the same. One couple who stayed there have been doing so for over thirteen years. He told me that the Divi only went all inclusive the last couple of years. They stay there but eat dinners off site.

The rooms are pretty standard. It is a typical hotel room. They do a decent job of cleaning but they do not go to the lengths that top flight hotels do. There was a couple of cob webs in one corner and they could have cleaned the bathroom a little better. The door was pretty beat up and some rust on the door frame. The air conditioner was loud but it did work well. They forgot to replace the tissues and the soap a couple of times.

The folks who stay at the Divi were mostly older. As I said the sun is really warm so they fight over the Tiki huts that protect them from the sun. I'm not sure if it is because they are all from New England or NY but they think nothing of getting up and placing their towels on a chair under a Tiki hut and then not showing up till 11AM to sit under it. It was rather comical watching them dance around trying to get these huts. managemnt has signs that you can not save the huts but nobody pays attention to that. If you are afraid of getting too much sun you too will have to "save" a hut if you want to sit at the beach and get out of the sun.

The entertainment is rather poor. Some invloves local kids and is rather sad. Other include a steel band or a jazz band. that was somewhat better.

overall if you are going to Aruba for the sun and beach i'd recommend another hotel where meals are not included and eat off site. if food is not that important and you wish to dink yourself into a stupor then maybe the Divi is for you. plently of Drinks, just lack of good food.
IF your happy eating what i think is comparable to a Sizzler then maybe you will like the food. It obviuos some did like it. If your looking for real top of the line service then you may wish to also look elsewhere. you will not be getting any turn down service and little mints on your pillow at the Divi. What you will get is OK. Just not great.

The Best Sunset

by A TripAdvisor Member

This was a great deal for the money! I went with my boyfried and another couple. The food was good but don't expect gourmet or cruise food. The service was usually very good and the drinks were strong!
This the best beach for enjoying a quiet and relaxing day. The water is clean and the bar is situated on the beach. This makes for a nice sunset. Our rooms were clean and had wonderful views of the ocean and pool.

Head to DIVI, steer clear of the Tamarijn

by A TripAdvisor Member

The DIVI is great!! Great beach, great location, great staff, a great time overall!! I just got back from an 8-day stay, and planned our return trip on the plane home!! We enjoyed our stay at the DIVI very much... All of the meals were good, and the breakfast buffet was exceptional... don't worry about the reservations at the Red Parrot, head to the buffet - it is better and more variety!! Mixed drinks at the bar seemed watered down, so opt for beer or wine, but definately try the "drink of the day"... Be sure to give yourself plenty of time, a week is just not long enough to experience all that Aruba has to offer!! The ATV tour is highly recommended!! Not impressed with the Tamarijn next door... very out-dated decor, bad paintjob, weird colors, rocky beach, not enough bars or bartenders, and the pizza snack bar is nothing compared to the DIVI brick oven pizza bar!! (We recommed the Quatro Queso think crust...YUM!) DIVI is worth the money, and all the rooms have great views and location to the beach. Not too many kids, and plenty of evening activities for everyone to enjoy! Head to the DIVI for a great time!!

Aruba's amazing Beaches.

"Rodgers Beach."

Rodgers Beach at Seroe Colorado a suburb of San Nicolas. Rodgers Beach has had a new attraction this year which is Coco Bar and Grill it is now one of Aruba's popular beaches. To find Rodgers Beach on the map click on the link Aruba Maps in my travelogue then on the map East South East Aruba.

"Palm Beach."

Palm Beach is one of the Caribbeans top Beaches.

"Druif Beach."

Druif Beach is one of Aruba's uncroweded beach on the west coast of the island. The Beach is located near the low rise are hotels. Hotels on this beach include: Tamarijn Aruba Beach Resort, Divi Divi Aruba Beach Resort, Manchebo Beach Resor and Aruba Beach Club/ Casa del Mar.

"Glimpse of Palm Beach."

"Baby Beach."

Baby Beach was a well kept secret in Aruba, but now the beach is one of the most popular beaches on the island. Especially for kids, baby beach can be lots of fun. The water at baby beach is clear and kids can go far out and the water is still waste deep.

"Eagle Beach."

No it is no trick, this part of Eagle Beach is one of the widest expanses of white sandy beaches in the Caribbean. Eagle Beach is in the top best beaches in the Caribbean and the World.

December weather

by Kevin4

Hey everyone, new member here just found this site. Thinking of planning a relatively last-minute vacation to Aruba in a couple weeks - going the week before X-mas. I've read that this is the time of year Aruba experiences most of its rain. Although I know nobody can guarantee the weather, I wanted to get some input as to whether the rains this time of year are typically quick bursts or more of the most of the day affair. Also, any comments on the Divi Aruba Phoenix Beach Resort? Thanks!

What you need to know about ARUBA is it is a DESERT island.
You would think you were in Arizona, only Arizona is more lush and has more rain.

Aruba is cactus and lizards!!! It has the least amount of rain of almost any island. So I wouldn't worry about the rain, and it is so near the equator that its warm.

I visited in September and it was HOT.
You might want to click on my name and then have a look at my travel map.... I have alot of info and pictures about ARUBA.

Also..
This URL is great.
the official ARUBA govt tourism site.

Thanks for your reply. Although Aruba is generally referred to as a desert island, it does however get around 5 inches of rain in December, which is quite a bit. So I'm trying to find out if its quick showers typically or can be all day rains. Looking at the forecast even for the next few days, it looks cloudy/rainy every day.
