More about Baywatch Resorts - Yellow Bird Hotel
SEA VIEW ON A BUDGET
BARBADOS HAS A REPUTATION FOR BEING A VERY EXPENSIVE PLACE TO VISIT BUT WE HAVE FOUND THE PERFECT SPOT TO STAY RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF ALL THE ACTION IN ST LAWRENCE GAP AND TO TOP THIS LITTLE GEM OFF ALL THE ROOMS HAVE SEA VIEWS..
OH DID I FORGET THE PRICE..ALL THIS FOR $100 A NIGHT.
THE YELLOW BIRD IS A SUPER FRIENDLY PLACE TO STAY WHERE THE STAFF WILL DO EVERYTHING TO HELP MAKE YOUR STAY AS COMFORTABLE AS POSSIBLE.
AS I SAID ALL FOURTEEN ROOMS ARE SEA FACING AND WHILE THEY MAY NOT BE BANG UP TO DATE WITH MODERN FITTINGS THEY ARE VERY LARGE AND VERY CLEAN, OUR ROOM RIGHT ON THE TOP FLOOR EVEN HAD A SPIRAL STARCASE WHICH LEAD TO THE ROOF WHERE YOU ARE FREE TO SUNBATHE IN PEACE, ONLY TWO ROOMS HAVE THIS FACILITY.
THE BALCONY IS ALSO LARGE AND ITS A GREAT SPOT TO SIT FIRST THING IN THE MORNING AND WATCH THE FISHERMEN BRING IN THEIR CATCH..OR JUST SIT AND WATCH THE LOCALS GO ABOUT THEIR BUSINESS WHILE YOU DO NOTHING BUT ADMIRE THE VIEW..BLISS.
THE HOTEL HAS A SMALL POOL, WHILE IT DOES THE JOB THE REAL STAR OF THE SHOW IS JUST ACROSS THE STREET.. WORTHING BEACH.
HERE YOU CAN HIRE A SUNBED FOR THE DAY AT VERY LITTLE COST AND ENJOY THE STUNNING CARIBBBEAN SEA.
YELLOW BIRD IS THE PERFECT PLACE TO STAY TO ENJOY THE NIGHT LIFE OF ST LAWRENCE GAP, HERE YOU WILL FIND LOADS OF RESTAURANTS TO SUIT ALL TASTES AND POCKETS.
THE HOTEL DOES SUFFER FROM A BIT OF NIGHT CLUB NOISE BUT THIS ONLY SEEMS TO HAPPEN ONE NIGHT A WEEK AND EVEN THEN IT DOSENT GO ON ALL THAT LATE.. I HAVE TO SAY THAT WE HAD A VERY RELAXING TIME AT THE YELLOW BIRD..THIS IS OUR SECOND STAY AND I HAVE NO DOUBT WE WILL RETURN AGAIN.
THIS LITTLE HOTEL IS THE PERFECT BASE TO EXPLORE THE CARIBBEAN GEM THAT IS BARBADOS. THE UNIQUE QUALITIES OF THE YELLOW BIRD WOULD HAVE TO BE THE PRICE.
WHERE ELSE DO YOU GET SUCH LOVELY SEA VIEWS AND LOADS OF NIGHT LIFE FOR SUCH A SMALL PRICE.
A little bird told me.
At the Yellow my group of friends and I had a wonderful stay. There was maid service daily and they were very nice. The staff was accomadating to our every need from laundry service information to setting up excursion trips. We stayed they an entire month during the Crop Over season and it was right there in the center of all the action of St. Lawrence Gap. Though St. Lawrence Gap is where all the action is including the clubs, restaurants and kareoke bars, the hotel was set in a way that all of that noise when the night comes doesn't disturb you. Instead of falling asleep to the sounds of the Reggae lounge you could fall asleep to the sound of the ocean across from you. The pool was and average size pool with pool tables and lounge chairs. It was open 24 hours and my friends and I took great advantage of it. Also the Bay Bistro restauran which is attached to the hotel had the Best Best Best Barbadian cusisine with and the atmosphere is With Jazz theme. The views from the hotel were great becuase you had a balcony with a patio set so you could enjoy the beautiful sunsets with your love.
Nice hotel and staff
Me and my three friend spent 9 days at Yellow Bird Hotel in St Lawrence Gap 13 Nov to 22 Nov. We were celebrating a birthday. We lived in the pent house on the top floor at the hotell, with a fantastic view over the ocean. We are very satisfied with our rooms and the nice atmosphere in the hotel, friendly and very helpful staff. We had a great time there, had a lot of sight seeing and if we go back to Barbados we would like to stay in the same hotel. Just one minus, the noice from the nightclubs in the neighbourhood!
Great place and staff!
I wanted to to thank Geeta and her wonderful staff at the Yellow Bird and Bay Bistro for all the help and hospitality during my stay with my 82 year old father. Everyone at the Yellow Bird Hotel helped to make the trip truly special for my father to return home to his island birthplace.
A Happy Yelllow Bird Guest!

WE just came back from another fantastic, relaxing holiday in Barbados and stayed at the Yellow Bird Hotel this time. Great value for money. They are at the moment improving the rooms with new bathrooms and kitchens so it can only get better. The view is to die for, probably the best in Barbados, with a beautiful sunset. The restaurant/bistro downstairs served the nicest food in the gap and the staff there were so friendly, I really like the blues/jazz music too. We tried to taste all of their cocktails but only managed 18 of the 65 as we really liked a mudslide. Michelle went out of her way to make us feel comfortable and even invited us to their cocktail party at their other hotel/restaurant in the Gap. Cherryann always made time for us,just for a little chat. We liked it here so much we are planning to return in Jan 2005.
Excellent Value for Money!
I have recently returned from a week's stay at the Yellow Bird Hotel during the last week in February 2005. The hotel itself is in a great location right at the entrance to St. Lawrence Gap. It is situated right across from St. Lawrence Bay and the view from the room's balcony is stunning. Beautiful sunsets and pristine Sea view. Also, because the Yellow Bird is located right at the entrance to the Gap, it is great for people watching in the evening. I have attached a picture of the view from our balcony.
There are two fantastic beaches nearby. The first, Sandy Beach (Worthing) is about a minute's walk away. You can walk for a minute down the street, or simply walk out into the bay and make a right. The other beach is called Dover Beach and is about a 5 minute walk. Both beaches are great but I preferred Sandy Beach, as it was a bit more low key and spacious.
The room was large and equipped with a nice kitchenette. The maid service was prompt and friendly as well. In fact, the entire staff was extremely friendly and accommodating.
I'd also like to note that the hotel's restaurant, The Bay Bistro, had excellent food, great service and reasonable prices. Other restaurants in the Gap that I'd recommend are David's Place, Cafe Sol, and an excellent lunch at the Southern Palms beach bar restaurant. (Southern Palms is the big pink hotel right in the Gap). Visiting the Oistins fish festival on Thursday or Friday night is definitely a must.
The only negative comment I have which other reviewers have noted is the noise level. This is the downside to the great location. Be prepared to hear loud live music until about 2am from a couple of clubs very near the Yellow Bird. Some nights it was louder than others, and we didn't mind too much as we liked to stay out late as well. Of course, in the morning, everything is lovely and quiet and you can hear a pin drop. But if you like to retire early, I would think twice about staying here. For us though, it was great having all of the great restaurants and nightspots just a walk away.
To sum up, this hotel is undoubtedly one of your best options for the price! Would definitely stay here again! In fact, I can't wait to return!!
The best all-rounder
We, Hartley, Michael and Richard have been staying at the Yellow Bird for 5 years now.
On my first visit to Barbados in 1997, I stayed at the all-inclusive Club Rockley.
Whilst this hotel may have many bars and restaurants, it severely lacked any charm, charisma or that all-important personal touch.
The Yellow Bird has one bar and one restaurant but the staff, who seem more like friends, know each of the guests in the hotel by name. Delsey, who is an amazing Chef, has been more than happy to cook up some local specialities not on the menu, just for us to try.
Over the years, we have had a chance to take a look in most of the rooms within the hotel, so we can safely say, all the rooms we have seen, have been clean and have well equipped kitchens/kitchenettes.
We have stayed in the Penthouse apartment many times, and with the recent refurbishment within the hotel, things have gone from good to great. The view from all the apartments faces south to the Caribbean Sea, where you get to see fantastic sunsets.
The Yellow Bird is ideally located at the start of St. Lawrence Gap, which has undergone major redevelopment in recent years, which places you right by all the nightlife. The music from the clubs can be heard at night, but it was not a problem for us.
The other reasons why we choose the Yellow Bird are, the very close proximity to the beach (across the road), the clubs and bars are within 2 minutes stroll, the major bus routes stop alongside the hotel and should you choose to eat outside of the hotel, you have a wealth of restaurants on your doorstep.
The bottom line is, the Yellow Bird is FAB!!!
wow!!!,The best location on barbados
We have stayed many times in Barbados ,in all types of accommodation from all inclusive to guest houses. The Yellowbird is a wonderful hotel that is in a catagory all of its own. people go back year after year, why??.Simply because it is the best.It has the best and most interesting views, the most friendly and accommodating staff, and its location is perfect.Your stay can be as busy or as quiet as you like, with a fantastic choice of restaurants and bars nearby. You must try the hotels own restaurant it's excellent, for me the breakfasts were great.Close by i.e. 5 mins walk there are two fantastic white sand beaches, one at Worthing the other at Dover Beach, both have really good swimming and beach facilities. When on Dover look out for 'Dr Aloe', he sells aloe vera, which when put on sun burn at night soothes away all your burns, this actually works so try it.We enjoyed our stay in the Yellowbird hotel so much we've booked up again this year; and according to Geeta it should be even better as it has been completely refurbished. We'll do another report and let you all know after our stay.
Great if you like music!
Our extended family of nine aged from 2 to 64 had a brilliant vacation over New Year.
The apartments were good value and the staff exceedingly friendly.
The location is convenient to the beach with red sunsets from the balcony every night.
The beach and swimming are ideal for young childen learning to swim.
The location is close to all the activity and noise of the Gap and suitable for teens and older world rockers.
Windsurfing and kiting is not far away along the coast but a car is preferable to get there.
Don't plan on going to bed too early as everyone else is in the clubs and you listen whether you want to or not!
