Hightide Watersports
by MikeAtSea
Hightide Watersports is situated in St. James some 15 minute drive South of Bridgetown. They have various boats and offer dive trips to the dive sites along the coast of Barbados. The boats were great, however the dive master leading the dive could have been a lot better. He did not give a lot information about the dive itself and we had to read up on the history of the wrecks and get information about the reef and fish we saw via an other source. All equipment is on hire.
Old Parliament
by Hewer
Not necessarily something you'd go out of your way to find, but an interesting thing to stumble across: Here marks the original meeting place for the Barbadian parliament in 1639. It was supposedly upstairs in a tavern (the Bajans were laid back even back then it would seem).
Barbados had the third oldest parliamentary system in the Commonwealth (after the UK and Bermuda).
This monument is located at the corner of Spry and Roebuck Streets.

"Barbados"
Bridgetown is nasty. There I said it. The rest of the island is calm, peaceful and very green. There are some really neat places to see on the island. The countryside and the rough shores of the west are really awesome. Beaches are nice too.
The City
by grandmaR
Bridgetown is the main city of Barbados. On our initial visit we spend one afternoon in Bridgetown shopping. On our last visit by cruise ship we got the shuttle into town and walked around taking in the sites and the life in the streets.
The bus routes are all "To City" or "Out of City". They radiate out like spokes of a wheel from the city.
Most of our cruise ship visits we have done excursions outside of town. This is the view of the city from one of those excursions.
