Best budget spot in town

The Belcove is clean, secure, and very centrally located. The staff are helpful and accomadating. The rroms are spacious and the advertised facilities all work. There is a small balcony on the waterfront for chilling out and watching the locals. Its also very close to two good restaurants (next door and at the corner by the bridge), and is only 3 minutes walk to the water taxis. if you have to spend a night in belize city, you can't go wrong here.

Unique Quality: water front balcony, view of the river

Belcove Hotel Belize city

Loved the Belcove Hotel. The place is great, a buget hotel with rates that start at $26.us a night, sqeaky sqeaky clean, very safe and only a 60 second walk to the swing bridge and water taxi terminal.
The people are great, they can arrange bus,s, tickets to anywhere from the zoo,to Mayan sites to bus trips to Guadamala.
This place is right on the river, very safe and has balcanys overlooking the river, a great place to have a beer and watch the world go by.
I have used this hotel a dozen times over the years as my base camp, each morning i get up, catch a bus to mayan sites, or the zoo, or walk to the water taxi terminal for day trips to differant islands, my favourate thing, is walk to water taxi terminal, catch a boat to Caye Caulker and swim at the split all day.

Unique Quality: very very clean simple rooms
very safe, i have left my luggage alone there for days and never lost so much as a dime.
very close to everything
great people run this place
they sell cold beer
they have laundry
if Belize city is just a one night stop for you, this place is perfect!

Belcove Hotel

A home away from home. We felt welcome the instant we arrived and we basically used the Belcove as our base for our trip through Central America. We flew in and out of Belize City so we were in and out of the hotel on our way to the next destination. A taxi from the bus station to the Belcove is BZ$7. Mirna, the owner, has lots of good advice on where to go and can organise transport for you. It is family run and there is always someone to help you out (we even went shopping for a CD with one of the guys as he knew where to get it). Very laid back and relaxed place on the river with a nice balcony, the rooms are basic but clean and neat. Some have private baths, we had a triple room with aircon and private bath for USD50. Accommodation in Belize does not come very cheap.
